Clearly didn’t go how the op hoped.

Us Brits quite often get lambasted for being insular. Gerrard goes over to a country that are paying him an extraordinary amount of money, so he feels that he should embrace their culture as much as he can.

I spent time in Oman and did similar and they absolutely loved it, really appreciated the acknowledgment of their ways.
