How do we fix this?

What specifically needs changing at the club, in order for the football to improve, and how would you do it?

Please, for once, let’s be specific, not looking for an argument, but a genuine discussion on how we can get it right.

Murtough seems to be blamedmfor an awful lot, but I'm notnsure why.

What has he done badly?

What has he done right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Backed the manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How is letting players get ridiculous contracts helping the manager?

Our expectations are to play attractive, entertaining football whilst being competitive at the top end of the league and in the CL. Those aren't unrealistic aims for United, Fergie or no Fergie.
======

If it's realistic why has only one manager, arguably the greatest of all time, managed it in 50+ years?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well that's not true is it? We've won trophies outside of Busby & Ferguson's tenures, and finished in respectfully competitive league positions before and since Fergie.

At times, even in the last 10 years, we've played decent football, too (albeit nothing to write home about).

The primary reason we're currently in a mess is due to horrendous mis-management of the footballing operation once Fergie & Gill stepped away. We have the resources to easily fulfil the modest expectations I laid out. We simply don't have the right people overseeing any of it, however.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Footballing operation, blah blah blah.

Same old umbrella terminology thrown around, with zero detail or subsstance.

May as well just say we neeed to do eveyfink betterer
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's been detailed many times over the years. It's just nobody here wants to indulge your single digit IQ faux-contrarian routine by going over old ground with you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Iv not once seen it broken down. Its just a lazy catch up moan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For me it’s about having continuity with the footballing operations so that when managers come and go there isn’t a need to start all over again, which is what we’ve been doing for ten years.

City absolutely smashed this, as did Chelsea under Roman. City put everything in place long before Pep came.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure Chelsea have been consitent with their managerial appointments

As for City, they will inevitably suffer when Pep goes, because he is one of the best ever, and there aren't many who can go in there and it be business as usual.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not consistent with managerial appointments, that’s the point. They were consistent with the footballing operations above the manager, which is why their chopping and changing managers didn’t stop them winning leagues and champions leagues.

City without Pep will still be very successful, just not as successful. Not treble, no 3/4 leagues in a row.

Well, I suppose the idea is that the manager is on place for the majority of these players contracts.

Do you think the players have more power than they should at this club as it's difficult to shift problem players?

Who where these ever present football people ? I can only recall the Nigerian fella, who's.no part of the Saudi League. Hardly a major footballing job.

Never heard of Txiki Begiristain?

He was director of football at Barcelona from 2003-2010 and then City 2012-Present
