You have to hope the next managerial appointment is the right one.

Hope.

1) appoint better manager
2) appoint Paul Mitchell
3) release unwanted players by buying out their contracts in the most extreme of cases
4) Pray we don’t make any form of Europe next season

And get Lee Sharpe to be his assistant. Fun times to be had.

1. Try recruiting players that have some passion.
2. Accept that Fergie days are well and truly over.
3. Integrate some youth products
4. And get a manager with a clear vision and back his vision.

1.Consistent football direction from above the manager
2. New Owners and senior level positions replaced with best in class
3. Players - none of our players get into the likes of Liverpool, City etc. We need players with character.
4. Manager - again we need best in class, something we haven’t had since SAF

The funds are (or at least have been) there, so for me it's about how they are spent, and how those players are coached managed.

We really need some sort of consultant/ fixer who has seen what works at the likes of Bayern / City / Real.

Even Barca have managed to build a quality side with next to no resources and a lot of boardroom drama.

We thought ETH was that manager but looks like he got amnesia the moment he stepped foot in the club. Every manager hired just goes back to deep line 4231 and hoof the ball hoping for a moment of magic from the forwards. And when they're not firing....we can't score.

This gets brought up every time United lose a game.

Some pundit/ex-player/opposition fan comes out with 'It wasn't like this when I was playing here/when Fergie was in charge...'

then they immediately say 'the problem with United is that they are stuck in the past, the Fergie days are over...'

The club has moved on. Far away from the Fergie days. 5 or 6 managers later the club has probably got as far away from the Fergie era as possible, sadly.

It's pundits and oppo fans that keep raising the subject.

A better manager? When the bald fraud was appointed most of the United supporter thought you would have appointed the best manager in the world.

Having skilled people in football decision making team would be an excellent start. Cultivate an approach that puts football excellence first. Surely the suits in charge would realise that a successful team equals more money in the long run.

Back the manager. These rumblings of discontent against ETH are all too familiar. The players feed on this as well and know they can hide behind a sacking. If he's backed then they'll know where they stand. It doesn't get any better than United for any of these players. It really doesn't. The only way is down from here in terms of prestige and earnings.

Stop giving mediocre players like Antony ridiculous contracts

Go for Marcelo Gallardo. He is out of work. Take a chance with an outsider or Graham Potter.

Perhaps also change the wage structure at the club. I believe it isn't as aligned towards bonuses as others (happy to be corrected on this).

Take out Busby and Fergie, just two managers in their entire history, and Utd are a bang average club.

I feel fans needs to get their head around this because it's only expectation that is the line between success and failure.

I guess the point is that apart from the time we struck gold with a manager then we've not been successful. To me though that just emphasises that we need a better structure.

Liverpool's golden era of the 70s and 80s may have included different managers but they were all cut from the same 'Boot Room' cloth. There was some logic involved in succession.

The point being that it's the fans expectations that are the issue. Utd are at their traditional level, bar the Fergie years and a bit of time when everything was in black and white.

Having the expectation to not be run terribly isn’t the reason Manchester United are run terribly.
