It's not rocket science to suggest that Bruno has been our best performer over the last 5 years. He's not been perfect by any means, but more often than not he's the one that has inspired us to unlikely wins, and it must be tough to be so heavily relied on to drag s semi-decent performance out of this team.
I have always felt that if we had 4 or 5 others (at least) who were performing at a similar level, then of course we would be doing so much better - we have seen flashes of brilliance from certain individuals, but not on the regular basis that Bruno has tended to do it.
Which, if any of current crop do you think can realistically reach the 'Bruno standard', or even surpass it?
Maybe Mainoo, Yoro, Amad? Not a spectacular player, but Ugarte looks like he can perform at a high level. So early for Heaven, but he could have something about him. Do we think Nacho can reach than level?
Our other more established players, such as Maguire, de Ligt, Dalot, Mount, I honestly don't feel they can be any better than squad players, and that really is our problem. So many established players who just aren't good enough, and so the current crop of youngsters don't have a high level to aim for.
The Bruno standard

I have a lot of time for Hojlund and think there is a good player in there, but at 70 plus million to lead our line with no experienced head to help him - madness. Setting him up to fail. Onana hasn't worked out, but for me was probably one of the less riskier ones, although of course it looks awful now.
It's against this background that we are expecting any manager to come in and work miracles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh Hojlund's price was too high. We rarely sign bargains these days.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I still believe there’s a capable striker there. Not one worth 72m but one with service that suits his style one that with confidence could do a decent job

So do I to be fair. I think if he'd joined a half decent team that he'd be doing a lot better. But we are a mess top to bottom right now.

A capable striker? He didn’t win a raffle to get a contract at Old Trafford…he’s a professional player and an international. The facts are he’s not very good, I’d go as far as saying if City hadn’t signed Haaland then Hojlund
wouldn’t at United.

He is largely feeding off scraps and playing in a side that isn't made up to play the managers system. I'll judge him next season when we hopefully resemble a team that has some idea of what is happening

I think that there is a good player in there. We saw last season that he can perform to a good level in coherent team that has some balance. However, as soon as Shaw got injured again we lost our balance and struggled to create many chances.

Sorry you're saying the reason Rasmus is struggling isn't because he's not very good is because your left back got injured and unbalanced the team? FFS Shaw only made 15 appearances in total last season.

I am saying that Shaw's presence in the team gives us balance and we create more chances as a result. There is certainly better service from the left when Shaw is in the team. When he was available last season we looked much more coherent in our attacking play and created more chances as a result. Shaw's spell of fitness coincided with Hojlund's best run of form at United, because we actually resembled a team that knew how to play together.
At the moment the team is a bit of a mess. We are starting to see some patterns in of play in the last few weeks as Dorgu has settled in, but it has been largely disjointed since Amorim took over. Perhaps after a preseason, and with a few new signings, the squad will be better equipped to execute the manager's systems and tactics and we will see a more coherent attacking threat from United. If so, that would be a fairer time to judge Hojlund.
