Off topic: Vaccinations / Anti Vaxxers

https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/05/health/measles-cases-us-record-since-elimination

Whats the general consensus for getting vaccinated amongst the 606 user base?

Do you trust vaccinations? Do you have an element of doubt over them?

If you don't trust getting vaccinated against some of the plethora of diseases out there, why not?

For me it's a no brainer. I believe in vaccination as do my parents and everyone I know, and have ensured my son who is 4 has had all the standard vaccinations he's been due to have up until now. I know over the next 10 or so years he'll continue to be called up for his next jabs and I'll ensure he does.

I can't get my head around why anyone would be opposed to it? Since the rise of Social Media it's obviously made it easier for dumbass conspiracy theories to spread. But what I can't understand is how full grown adults fall for it 🤔

Do people not believe in it because they think 'what if it gives me blood clots, cancer, autism, or whatever?' have they not also thought about the thousands of foods and other life style choices that also contribute to those things?

I've read above that one dose of the MMR jab gives you 93% protection against one of the most infectious diseases in the world Measles, and having the second jab gives you 97% 'protection'.

Tell you what though, even though I've had both my MMR jabs looong loong ago, I'd be p!!!ssed if I some how caught it as a result of other people choosing not to have them.

PS this isn't a round up on USA article as I'm sure vaccination rates are falling everywhere. Just noticed the above article and it's about Texas, though I'm sure this trend is happening in the UK and wider developed world too.

Study each vaccine's history before you get it.

There are all sorts of quackery out there.
Your job is to distinguish between the products manufactured and tested according to scientific principles, and the rubbish.
Its the rubbish that will kill you, or at best, do nothing good.

No vaccine on the market anywhere in the developed world is a product of quackery.

I think she decided on it very likely being a gout attack after I explained to her that I'd had no falls, no accidents to cause a twisted or sprained ankle, but that I'd been drinking wine the night before. So she then asked how often do I drink through the week and I said I probably average 1.5 bottles of wine 3 or 4 nights in the week on average and she did her routine job of reminding me of the recommended Unit limit for adults blah blah. So I presume the liver and diabetes part of the blood tests is because I was just honest with her about my alcohol intake

Fellow gout sufferer. The old misconception around it being about weight/diet is slowly starting to change.

Anyway, I concur RE the pain. It's the worst pain iv felt and I have broke bones too.

I'm on allopurinol (300mg) a day and since being on that I haven't had an attack. I also have Colchicine just incase of an attack which does work in the event of an attack. Get your doctor to prescribe you those, it's a life changer seriously
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Colchicine?
Wow, I'm surprised this is still being prescribed for patients.
It's an extremely powerful medicine for treating inflammation and pain
However, in the USA, In 2006, the FDA was charged with reviewing the safety of existing non-FDA-approved drugs, and colchicine, with its many known toxicities and narrow therapeutic index, was targeted for evaluation. Intravenous colchicine was removed from the United States market in 2008.

Do you understand the definition of the word ‘quackery’?

And do you know how vaccines are developed, and the mandatory protocols for their proofs of concept, testing, production design, approval, production controls and post-approval monitoring?

Can we have an example of a vaccine on the market anywhere in the world which is a product of ‘quackery’ please?

It's very small dose and very much 3,2,1. But trust me, the pain at the time means anything will help. I don't know the detail you refer to but it's not a long term medicine. You get a flare up, take a small dose and it pretty much always does the job.

Just reading about it now. It seems oral dosage is pretty much safe.

I don’t think you understand just how ridiculous that statement is about the poster you’re addressing.

That the jab itself caused me more of a bad reaction than catching Covid twice - which turned out to be a bad cold with a high temperature for three days (I have an Oura ring which monitors my body constantly so I know pretty well how my body is reacting to various things every day).
__________

An Oura ring? We'll that's that settled then/
