It's becoming increasingly difficult for me, at least, to watch Wolves at the moment. In fact, after they almost scored a second when their player was completely unmarked and hit the post with a header, I switched to watch another match.
VP has lost it, I'm afraid. If you take into account the matches at the end of last season and this current one, we're winless in the last 12 league games.
I wanted 2/3 quality players in the summer window, but instead, the club went for "at least 6," which was supported by practically everyone on here. Well, you got what you wanted and I think it's plain for all to see, that these players, bar Krejci, are not up to the job.
We're playing like a bunch of individuals and not collectively as a team at the moment. I was also prepared to give the new players a chance to prove themselves, but they're not even starting matches. And what on earth has happened to Agbadou? Outstanding last season and a complete flop this. We've also switched to a back four recently and at least that has slowed down the goals conceded. But our problem is at the other end and I don't see where the goals are going to come from.
The only plus right now is that we're still in the League Cup.
Anything other than a win against Burnley and VP has to go and be replaced with a manager who emphasises attack more than defence. Lastly, Larsen has to be rested in order for him to get back to being 100% fit.
Rant over.
Is this the end of VP? (Frustrated in FL)

If we'd bought a top-quality 50m forward and a top-quality creative midfield player, we could well have been in a better position, but instead, we bought players who are no better than what we already had, hence, 4 are even starting matches.

Nail. Meet. Head.
If not for injuries, only one would have started at Sunderland 👍

How much more garbage are you going to write about your stupid comment that we should have signed three quality players.. Would we have been better off having a £50m striker and a top quality creative player? Of course we would. Meanwhile in the real world £50m players sign for the richest clubs in the world, usually in the champions league, not for clubs that have been struggling to stay in the Premier league. Try taking a step into reality.

We bought Raul Jimenez six years ago, when we weren’t in the Champions League, for €38m, the equivalent of over £50m in todays inflationary market.
We paid €50m for Cunha? Again, no Champions League.
What exactly is your point
Do you still think Ger Lopez will be our next £70m player?

West Ham at home - January 3rd, 2026.
New year, new transfer window. New manager?
Oldgold, is it too early to launch the match thread?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, but will have to wait until tomorrow, just got back from Dublin and I'm pooped.

What about the 35m for a player who didn't start many games? I think his name was Fabio something. We also finished last season very close to both Man Utd and Spurs.
So it's not so much how much we buy a player for, it's the salary that we are reluctant to offer.
But hey, thanks for the "at least 6" players we got, even though we paid way over the true value of them. (About 40m) And that doesn't include 27m for Larsen, who's been a total flop this season and looks totally disinterested, and had his hopes dashed when we didn't sell him to Newcastle.
The sooner this club gets rid of Fosun (our well-established Investment Company) and gets owners who make good on their promises, the better off we're going to be.
VP, I'm afraid is now a carbon copy of O'Neil.

I don’t think anyone can analyse our summer transfer business and not conclude that someone is on the take?
Some of the fees were simply outrageous. We probably paid double fair market value.
I said before a ball was kicked that all six would be sat on the bench by the end of May, looks like only one will prove me wrong at the time of writing.
Fosun Out!

Look at the players signed for huge fees of £50m or more in the summer. There weren’t many but those that happened went to the richest clubs, not to clubs like Wolves in the lower reaches of the table. Why do you think Cunha and Ait Nouri moved on. It’s partly due to the difference in wages between the richest clubs and the rest but mainly due to the fact that if a player has got to the top of the profession and are deemed worth £50m they don’t want to join a relegation fight.
Your comments about Larsen is just more garbage. Last week you were saying he shouldn’t be playing because of the injury he is carrying. Now you’re criticising him for not playing well. Laughable logic.
Nobody will argue that we’d be better off with different owners, but then of course that depends on who replaced them. But in the real world they are our owners, we can’t compete with the richest clubs in what we offer players, so we have to do the best with the situation we are in.
The general policy of selling the best players to fund the next team is the kind of policy all clubs outside the top 6 follow. Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton, Palace have all sold their best players and brought in lower cost replacements. The fact is that over the last two years they’ve done a better job than we have of implementing that policy.

Don't worry Oldgold, I was jokingly referring to the early launch of the match thread for the West Ham home game in January. Could be crucial, unless we're already down by then.

Saw the West Ham game on tv on Monday and they looked terrible. We might even be able to beat them, unless Nuno turns them around
