Oldham Team?

What team would you like to see start on Friday night?

It seems the perfect game to give Gerrard a start to me. There is no point playing Bellamy, we need him fresh for the Man City away leg so he can provide the cutting edge we didn't have last night.

The likes of Kelly and Coates need a game, and Carragher will probably get a game too.

Though I would love to see Sterling get a run out, just to see how he performs on the big stage, but I can't see happening.

I think it's about time Downing started warming the bench, he has been atrocious, I'd rather see any of our talented youngsters start ahead of him! Suso or Sterling would be prime examples.

Downing badly needs a goal though, maybe he will finally get one against L1 opposition.

In an ideal world I would bench him, but he is the only winger we have, and simply has to start at least while Carroll is in the team.

Downing is the sort of player than can be rubbish for a couple of months and then be excellent for a couple of months. Hopefully the tide is about to turn, otherwise he is in danger of being washed away.
