What deal is worse so far?
Personally I think Liverpool spending 35million on Carroll was worse. Torres at one point was the best striker, so it made sense.
But please, tell me what day of the week Carroll is worth 10million, let alone 35!!
Thoughts?
Carroll v Torres

The odd goal from his bludgeoning left foot does not hide the glaring lack of first touch, movement and anticipation.

righteous1, these things can all be taught and come with experience.
When a player has pace, lets say for example Owen, they made up for the lack of technique and anticipation with their pace. His movement wasn't always good, but he had unbelievable pace to get him into the positions. As he got older and lost that pace his movement got better, as he knew he couldn't rely on that anymore.
Carroll has got into the right positions this season. He had a goal wrongly out against Sunderland. He has hit the post 3 times (had to be in the right place to get the shot/header on goal), he has scored 2 in the league and 2 in cups.
If he'd scored 8/9 goals this season would we be having the same conversation? I don't think we would.
I agree that he has looked clumsy at times, but I've also, on occasions, seen him hold up the ball well, bring others into play with a good first touch. The ability is there, what we need is for him to do it regularly and that will come with time and it comes with confidence.

If my aunt had balls etc
Carroll has missed easy chances this season, no doubt about that.

But he's got himself into the right positions which is more the point

Carroll is a poor player, he and LFC are a match made in heaven

Standing in the box at 6ft 3 waiting for a high ball . Hardly skillful

FatJan its funny seeing you defend Carroll desperately for about 12 hours straight now talking about how he gets into good positions and hes showing promise and he'l come good but when it came to Torres, you wrote him off quicker than Carroll can down a pint. Dont you think you should let go of those straws you've been clutching at, and face reality? Carroll is a flop. There's no two ways about it as your beloved Stevie Me would say

I haven't written off Torres completely. I said he's playing rubbish at Chelsea which was the whole point of this thread; who's the biggest flop so far.
I don't thing you'll see the best of Torres at Chelsea. He was awesome at Liverpool and he is shadow of his former self. Just my opinion mate. And in my opinion Carroll will improve.
