West Brom - Profit

All

Sorry for the rubbish article here, but I read last night on 405 that West Brom have made a profit of 9 million, for last year.

Is this correct? - I can't think who West Brom have sold for big money, and the crowds aren't exactly 70k per home game, and the ticket prices are less than at ER? - how is this profit possible? - would life in the PL, TV money really make this? - certainly doesn't help for the likes of Everton / Blackburn etc...

If all this is correct, then you'd of thought LUFC, with ticket prices.. sales of players...

Now, I'm of a business mind (or so I thought) but I cannot get my head around this? is there any simple answer as to why West Brom are making profit and Leeds aren't?

HELP ??!!??!!

Tuscany
My lad has several footballs if you want one. You might need to put a bit of air in it though and Bates has plenty of the hot variety if you're stuck.

Which of this clubs has Bates as a chairman?

Which of the companies that Bates has ever been involved with over the last 50 years has ever made the profits they should have?

Eddie, sorry a football club, not a football with 4 sons there are plenty of footballs dotted around the ground - some flat because of dogs

Don, I don't doubt you in the slightest and I find that scenario madness.... whilst I admit if I did own a football club I'd have to run it as a business otherwise you'd be pouring money away from your childrens future as well as your own... but a well run business, seemingly like West Brom still sign players, and compete in at the top level of English football....

I've run this past my head accountant but she is Hull city fan so her answers are clouded with Leeds United hatred... I've already started the ball rolling for her P45

honestly, I cannot get my head around this...

Bluememe... surprisingly good comment by the way

Did Swansea not make a profit of £600k on a £10m turnover and they signed some good players in thechampionship and div 1.

All the best business people are a little under hand in some situations like or not, it happens... certainly I'm no angel for sure.. you don't get to the top by sending chrsitmas cards to everybody and kissing bottoms.

but the situation at Leeds seems very strange... I just can't can't get my head around it.... comparing to the likes of West Brom.

West Brom have played the (Unfair in my view) system like a dream over the last few years. They have a business model that accepts they will never challenge for the top spot and have player contracts that take into account relegation, so players paid on a sliding scale. They have a preffered plan of bouncing as parachute payments mean they can compete at the very top of the championship and gain promotion, so you-yo a lot, but each season back in the prem means they get stronger each year. It works and means that a small outfit like WBA are a mile ahead of us in terms of being well run
