West Brom - Profit

£27m turnover only 50% on wages yet have to sell players to make a profit, not hard to see where the money is going - Monaco.
People keep saying we have a £12m budget for players wages, anyone seen a breakdown of this, i doubt it, easy with a good accountant to shift money around.

Don... thats the way I was thinking to be honest... there must be something else we are missing though eh?

Tommy, hope you are well this morning - in the prem though with clubs mentioned Everton, Blackburn etc they seem to be far worse off than Leeds...

There is something I'm not getting here thankfully I do not own a football and never would

The financial success followed a successful first season back in the Premier League the team avoiding relegation back to the Championship for only the second time.
West brom continued in transfer spending was reflected in a profit in that area of £3m. They spent £5.2m on new signings but received £8.2m back from players who were sold.
But the latest figures do not take into account that, since the end of the financial year, the commitment in terms of fulfilling players' contracts has risen from £37m to £48m.

I am fairly pally with the last manager(a few on here could confirm) and he was telling me once that Bates got all the ticket office staff in to thank them for there work and said how they had serviced so many hundred thousand tickets etc and well done, he said i knew how much the tickets cost and how much the wage bill was so did a quick add up and thought whats going on here, i cant get a penny hardly for players(he had plenty of good ones lined up to come)trust me a good hours chat with him and you would learn plenty.

Tuscany
My lad has several footballs if you want one. You might need to put a bit of air in it though and Bates has plenty of the hot variety if you're stuck.

is there any simple answer as to why West Brom are making profit and Leeds aren't?
---------------
Which of this clubs has Bates as a chairman?

Which of the companies that Bates has ever been involved with over the last 50 years has ever made the profits they should have?

Eddie, sorry a football club, not a football with 4 sons there are plenty of footballs dotted around the ground - some flat because of dogs

Don, I don't doubt you in the slightest and I find that scenario madness.... whilst I admit if I did own a football club I'd have to run it as a business otherwise you'd be pouring money away from your childrens future as well as your own... but a well run business, seemingly like West Brom still sign players, and compete in at the top level of English football....

I've run this past my head accountant but she is Hull city fan so her answers are clouded with Leeds United hatred... I've already started the ball rolling for her P45

honestly, I cannot get my head around this...

Bluememe... surprisingly good comment by the way

All the best business people are a little under hand in some situations like or not, it happens... certainly I'm no angel for sure.. you don't get to the top by sending chrsitmas cards to everybody and kissing bottoms.

but the situation at Leeds seems very strange... I just can't can't get my head around it.... comparing to the likes of West Brom.

West Brom have played the (Unfair in my view) system like a dream over the last few years. They have a business model that accepts they will never challenge for the top spot and have player contracts that take into account relegation, so players paid on a sliding scale. They have a preffered plan of bouncing as parachute payments mean they can compete at the very top of the championship and gain promotion, so you-yo a lot, but each season back in the prem means they get stronger each year. It works and means that a small outfit like WBA are a mile ahead of us in terms of being well run
