...column even starts to run with it...WE WILL NOT BE SIGNING CAVANI!
Although I'd love it if we did

More waffle. Loads of teams could spin the "project" pitch to him. The fact is that Liverpool are not in the Champions League. That is where the big players want to be. He will want to go to a team that is playing in the Champions League year after year. Not a team who have missed out the last two years and aren't looking so certain of qualifying for it this year either.
As to the money side, how much do Liverpool actually have? Yes they spent big on Carroll but we all know that was funded by the sale of Torres. Apparently they can't compete with City's wage structure either(I read that's why they never went for Aguero although he cost roughly the same as Carroll) The Yanks haven't exactly been throwing money at Kenny have they? This transfer window is a crucial time for them to go out and buy another striker to take the load off Suarez. He's a great player but he just isn't a great finisher and it's costing Liverpool big time. Yet it looks like Liverpool are going to be doing no business in this window.
Fred, my apologies.

Erm I just asked why would he want to go to Liverpool.
I didnt claim Spurs to be a bigger club.
Some of you are a bit tetchy today.
You might be a 'bigger' club but i'd take our league position / squad over yours any day.
No CL again next year for you

I love this thread.
The OP is about a totally made-up rumour from some two bit ad-vehicle website. It state's clearly that Liverpool will NOT be signing Cavani.
Everyone then procedes to get all wishful and start listing reasons why he might come.
No wonder people are taking the mick. You all deserve it. The rumour's b0llocks. Leave it alone.

Of course lots of clubs can spin the project idea to anybody but you're forgetting that Liverpool are still a huge club and there is a huge attraction to play for us, despite what people like yourself seem to think.
We are one of the biggest names in the game so therefore showing the intent, in addition to the fame that playing for such a big club would give, the project could also persuade any potential signing.
All hypothetical of course.
By the way, players claim to want silverware. Liverpool are still in both the Carling Cup and the FA Cup and have got to the first show piece final of the season. Winning it would end a trophy drought and will also help to persuade players to join.
However I'm still not sure we'll beat Cardiff

I don't doubt for a second that Liverpool are still a huge club, I know they are. I just dont think its as big a lure as you seem to think.
And i dont think winning the Carling Cup is either. Liverpool will hammer Cardiff. Being a final they will treat it like a game against City or United and will have far too much for Cardiff. I really can't see anything but a Liverpool win.

Have you seen us against the smaller teams this season?
Thank the lord Suarez is back that's all I'm going to say.
I just find it ironic that Torres leaves Liverpool and then we get to the first major final available after he leaves

Fred, I just think you guys will go into this game and treat it in the right way. And if Stevie G is playing he'll make sure there's no taking the game for granted.
And DayDoblahblahblah, you're coming across as a right idiot. Catch a grip.

He's in John Lennon Airport sitting on the yellow submarine waiting for a cab to take him to melwood, you think Kenny would have picked him up, he drove Andy Carroll to Melwood he should give Cavanni a piggy back there!
Back to reality it's not going to happen but it would be amazing if it did.
