Harry for England?

Since most of you on here are well up at the moment for replacing manager's, who do you reckon should get the vacant England job, now that £6 million a year man Capello has resigned?

My own preference would definitely be for an English man for starters and Harry Redknapp fits the bill niceley, now that he's just "got out of jail". Harry has loads of experience having managed five clubs and has 1256 games under his belt.

I've just been listening to one of Skye's Football pundits and was aghast when he suggested that we should look no further than Spaniard Pep Guardiola of Barcelona. Personally, I am totally against appointing another foreigner, because what does someone like 41 year old Guardiola know about a single English player,or our football culture and history - absolute sweet FA.

He's only ever managed one club and has only 222 games in charge under his belt and lets be honest, some of us Town fans (but not I) don't want anyone else going on a "learning curve" at our expense do we?

So being as patriotic as ever, my thought's are that we should look no further than "Happy Harry" and I will be well p-ssed off if the FA make their usual Balls up and appoint another Foreigner.

PS: I wonder if Clarky could be tempted?

I have to agree with Mirf on this one! You don't have to be a genius to be in a position to be able to buy the best players and then achieve success.

'Arry is a great football manager and has proven himself with limited money. It's a no-brainer 'Arry is the man for the job, even though, as I have stated before, Spurs will suffer if he gets the job.

Again, not looking at his overall record. Porto and Inter - where he was arguable most successful - he didn't have silly money to spend and still massively over-achieved.

It's time for the England manager to be from Great Britain!

So you're happy him being Scottish, Welsh or Irish as long as he's not from overseas? He's either going to be English or not English, and Mourinho speaks better English than most other managers in the Premier League anyway!

jacko,

We were not in a position to buy the best players, otherwise we would have snapped up Rickie Lambert before Southampton got their mitts on him and he would have been the difference between the Play-off's and promotion for Town.

Lambert was sold for around a £1 million with big wages to match, but was looking to move back to his Northern roots, but sadly there were no takers, including Town.

Mirf - Your "hero" wanted Lambert but Hoyley thought he was too much !

the wages were too much for deano..it would have caused our other "stars" and their agents to much pain.. I wanted him here and pointed out that we already paid people who didnt affect the games very much quite a lot of money.. we still do.. and we lost out on lambert who would have seriously affected lots of games..
It was one big earner too many for dean..

It's very well known what happened with Lambert. Clark wanted him here, we agreed a fee and pretty much had him signed up. Deano decided there was no "re-sell value" in someone of his age when we would be paying so much for him.

there wont be any re sale value for joey and lots of others on good wages...it was a false economy at the time.. i think dean regrets it and has paid over the odds in transfers and wages since to "make up for it"..
