A lot of moaning drearies on here moaning about the current regime should be thankfull we have a club, thanks to one man.
Should be thankfull we are not in poor Rangers situation.
I expect the worst for them as investment will be tough for them.
Can't see anyone wanting to invest in an SPL Team

That's why successful clubs hire football people to make football decisions that require knowledge of the modern game. Smart football decisions don't cost the earth. They range from economic to educated higher level investments.
Bates is clueless in that department. Until we have football brains in the club running football matters, nothing will change.

Cas, (by the way not picking a fight here) experienced maybe in years. But not in football knowledge. Anyone can hang around. Smart ones learn and adopt flexible, progressive models of thought. Bates does not.
As for smart decisions? I'll start with Norwich. They (Delia and the board) appointed a football head honcho. That person hired Lambert and restructured the club. They invested in the team, the club and the fans wisely. Look where they are now. They didn't spend Man City money.
But what they did spend, they spent wisely.
Look at Southampton. Progressive board. Hired a good manager. Invested on and off the field. Things are looking up.
Brighton. Built a brand spanking new stadium. State of the art ready for the next 20 years and the Prem. The board hired Gus (the bloke I wanted in when Bates hired SG). They invested in the team also. Look at Saturday's game, they brought CMS and a Spanish La Liguer off the bench and won.
Dare I say, look at Man U. They were going nowhere but the FA Cup until they installed Red Nose. Pretty smart there.
And there's more.
Sadly, Leeds United under Bates doesn't make it onto the smart list.

These decisions are therefore all to do with the manager appointed. This isn't something you can state 100% will go right for you when appointing someone.
All this proves is yes Lambert invested wisely in players, but Grayson used too many loanees. Wouldn't say they spent more than us on fee/wages as a total, prior end of last season.
Southampton, not sure what they have spent on players. There net spend over recent years will be nil and probably a profit. But, wouldn't have chosen Adkins for us and not sure many would.
So Brighton invested in a new ground. They had to as didn't have one. So Bates is now right to invest in the ground I assume by your use of this.
Bates doesn't make in onto the smart list just because of putting SG in charge? Got us promoted from league 1. Lets see who he appoints now to finish (hopefully) the job to the PL.

Cas, it's not just about a manager. It's about an organizational shift starting at Chairman and boardroom level. Which then affects the head of football operations and in turn that leads to a good hire at manager, back room staff, scouts, playing staff.
Bates' approach is outdated.
My point with Brighton was, they built an entire stadium from the ground up AND invested in the team.
Bates opted to build executive boxes etc. And put a manager in charge who lived by loan signings. He went
the cheaper route.
You obviously, at certain levels buy into what Bates is telling you. That's fine. I do not. In my opinion, he's not football smart. Never has been. Never will be.

Which man is that?
The odious Monacan?
Let's go with your theory - he saved the club.
Does that then give him the right to rip off the fans for the remainder of his life?
Does that entitle him to constantly bend the truth to the fans?
Does that entitle him to bark about paying Prem Prices and then whimper when spending on the team?
WHO ARE YA?!?!?!
