The Captains Table ?

Couple of points to all who think Gerrard should have been captain last night.

Pearce knew beforehand he would play only, at most, 45 minutes.

Gerrard has not completed a full match for England since October 2010.

Given them facts why would you make him the captain.

By the way.
Imo,Gerrard has been one of the best players to play in the Premiership.
Absolutely carried liverpool for years.

I enjoyed the part where you admit Gerald is past it most

johnsonsbaby i will rephrase the question as your using the age thing as a get out.

If the above managers could have their choice of Rooney or Gerrard for ONE season who would they choose?

"If the above managers could have their choice of Rooney or Gerrard for ONE season who would they choose?"

Gerrard may spend some time out injured. Rooney may spend some time out suspended. So I will go for Gerrard

Gerrard's a busted flush.

He was WC in his prime, but he's been on the slide for 2 years.

So i will go for Gerrard.
You probably would.
The question was......who do you think the managers would go for?

Are you being pedantic on purpose CE?

In answer to THE question about the 'above' managers..... *I* would say that they would want Gerrard in their team for one year. A midfield player who can and does score, a leader, not volatile! If you're saying age doesn't count, then the age-related injuries that Gerrard would likely get shouldn't be included in the reasoning for having him over Rooney. Therefore, if you take away the likelihood of injuries, he beats Rooney hands down.

(I wouldn't mind Rooney at Liverpool for a year)

Rooney is the far better player

Debating Rooney and Gerrard is like splitting hairs. Which Rooney is probably better at.

The chap has got a mohican.

And 17 league goals.
Perhaps he should have a hair transplant before every season
