The Captains Table ?

Don't think many reds wanted Gerrard as captain last night tbh. He's still recovering from Sunday. Given his age he needs to keep fit for Liverpool and he will find that easier not playing for England, but he still wants to play for England and has said he would be honoured to be captain full time should it happen!

As the best English senior player, I think he should be skipper for the Euros. Harry will have the sense to know this.

The best English senior player is Rooney.

That is a joke CE?

A joke johnsons ?

Give the managers of Barcelona ......Real Madrid....Inter Milan......Milan....Bayern Munich.......Man City......Arsenal........Chelsea...etc etc a choice of Rooney or Gerrard on a free transfer.
Who do you, HONESTLY, believe they would choose ?

Sorry I thought we were talking performances for England.

No mate best player.

Best player for England? Or just best player?

So does the best player get the armband?

Gerrard has been part of the 'clique' issue within the England squads of recent years. With the behind the scenes beatching between the Liverpool, Manc & Chelsea players.

New manager, new era - picking Gerrard would have been a backward step.

if you look at my comment i said Rooney is the best "English player"

So this article isn't asking any questions, just making statements. Ok.

I don't think Rooney is 'the best English player'

I think concerned evertonian is a ballbag

If you read the article again you will see the article does in deed ask a question.

I also asked you a question regarding the managers of the clubs mentioned choice of Rooney or Gerrard, which you have yet to answer.

Who do you think is the best English player?

A player of 20 something or a 30 something on a free transfer? Not difficult to see why they would choose Rooney is it?

You could have had your butler write that for you.(Squire)

At the risk of repeating myself who is the best English player?

Phil Jones?

I saw it as a rhetorical question - as you chose not to put a question mark, which usually means it is intended to be rhetorical.

If it was a question though then I think I already answered it in my first comment.

Given that Rooney's five years younger than Gerrard I'd say those managers you name would go for him - he should be in his prime whereas Gerrard has in all likelihood just passed his prime.

Were does the bit about best English 'senior' player fit in to your argument?

I'm a bit confused -

don't worry I usually am

Joe Hart

Rodney was a good player but not the best English player.

Now are you talking best English player of all time....or shall we stick to CE's run on current players?

I hear Inner Circle who brokered our sale to the Americans is involved in looking for a buyer for your club.
