Liverpool need a striker and a couple of wingers. Dalglish will probably sign Darren Bent, Jermaine Pennant and Matt Jarvis for a combined £70 million.

and kevin davies. don't forget kevin davies.
We've got a huge waiting list for people wanting season tickets so I don't get why we need to make up transfers to sell our quota. Podolski pretty much said he was close to signing, Mertesacker said he's been talking to him about it.
Mertesacker HAS been saying Podolski wants to join. I don't think Wenger or the board would use Merty to boost ticket sales would they?
"And the idea that we only need 'one or two' signings shows that, again, wenger has slipped into a false sense of security. van persie has scored 45% of our goals, and on far too many occasions he's been the ONLY difference between wins and draws/defeats. a lack of squad depth meant that underperforming players like ramsey and walcott (save for the last three/four games) were guaranteed starts for most of the season, without fear of being dropped."
"There are warning signs there, but wenger either isn't acknowledging them or he refuses to."
This false sense of security is the scariest part. Before we went on this run of 5games everyone could see how weak we were and if Chelsea had fired AVB a month or so earlier things might have been a lot more different.
I'm worried now that they've proven they can get to third spot, that they're gonna take their foot off the gas now. Wenger needs to drill it into them that there is no room for complacency, not after all the hard work has been done.

but we also had a large number of people who refused to renew last year. yes, there is a long waiting list of people for season tickets, but if you're losing enough people from that list every season (and last year the number of dropouts was in the hundreds), you're eventually going to have to start worrying. it's like being a non-working millionaire - if you keep going through your fortune without anything coming in, it's naive to assume you'll never be out of money eventually.

podolski actually came out and denied the deal was done, around the same time that arsenal were expected to announce it. it is possible that arsenal are spreading these rumours themselves to avoid any grumblings from the stands - it certainly isn't unheard of.
Podolski is hardly a big name. Season ticket sales are more connected to CL football. And Wenger has gone too far in admitting signing Podolski as replacement of Arshavin.
The problem is that we still need a creative midfield player. The reason for Theo's lack of form is Ramsey. Look at his performance against Newcastle, a much better team than Everton. No one sensible can expect Rosicky to run the team the entire season.
The key player in our formation is the 'Cesc' role. Thats the one we need to fill. Thats why we are so many points behind.
The rest of the players we need depend on who is leaving from now on.
Forgot about Kevin Davies. He's certainly an improvement on Andy Carroll.
Personally, I think Arsenal need a better dm than Song. He's a very good footballer, but I don't think he's great at protecting the defence. If you had someone behind him he could excel as a playmaker, some of his passing is brilliant.
Most importantly, Arsenal need some players with a bit of leadership. I feel that's what they're lacking more than anything. Look at United, you would say our squad is full of quality players, but most of them have a bit of fight in them.
I personally think we do only need one or two new signings. It takes time for players to bed in and form an understanding with each other.
Part of our recent run of form is down to our players having a far better understanding of each other and all working together. A massive overhaul this summer will mean starting all over again.
We need more support for van Persie that much is obvious but other than that our priority should be getting rid of the players we don't need and making sure our squad isn't carrying too many players that aren't good enough.
Podolski just said nothing is finalised, but it's pretty obvious from what him, Wenger and Mertesacker have said that there's some kind of talks going on tbh.
Spot on Jenius.
Wenger desperately needs to find that player and he has the money to spend big so he has to deliver this time around.
Where is the "Super Quality" Wenger was mentioning.
Song can do the defensive job, there is no doubt about that. He just seems to think he is Iniesta lately, and while some of his passes do come off, he is really needed in midfield. We were lucky Kossy and verm had such a good game against everton.
I think that Wenger will bring in no more than three new players including a goalkeeper who will act as cover for Szczesny.
I am sure that Podolski is a done deal even if contracts
are not signed.
That leaves Wenger to buy one more outfield player.
My guess is that he will break our transfer record to
secure the right player.
Two or three other players might be promoted or brought from loan. The obvious candidates would be
Miyaichi,Campbell and possibly Martinez as fourth string goalkeeper.
What Wenger will also do if at all possible is offload a
large number of squad players who are now surplus to
requirements.
Almunia,Squillaci,Denilson,Arshavin,Bendtner,Chamakh are certain to be sold or released. Benyaoun's contract is unlikely to be extended.
Then there are fringe players who might wish to leave
eg Fabianski,Coquelin,Lansbury,Vela and Park.
Even with these departures we should have a full squad.
I guess it's gonna be a long summer.
