Of course he's world class.

I would say that Messi is hyper world class, Ronaldo is super world class, and then you have everyone else.

Rooney is probably world class, but still not as good as he looked like he might've become when he was 18.

Well for me anyway, players that would get into pretty much every team. I'd say the Top 10 of every position are world class.

Yeah, he's world class.

Does anyone else feel sorry for defenders when people talk about world class players? They never get a mention.

Agreed.
Vidic was world class, before his injury anyway.

I know this is a stupid way to do it, but everyone over 85 on Fifa is world class.

I stand corrected said the man in the orthoepedic shoe.

Within my parameters of what world class is Wayne isn't world class to me. However, everyone has a right to an opinion and on this subject it appears I am in the minority. Now who thinks JT is World class?

Yes so also few other pl players. If we consider the premier league together with serie a, la liga, the german league to be the top tier then the top of the line in those leagues are certainly world class- however they compare with barca midfield and messi in particular. I hope this helps

Depends on how you view world class.... To me, it means you are in the two or three players in that position (or in other words, you'd make a 25 man squad of world players).

In that scenario, I would say Rooney is world class. He is the perfect example of a #10 player... Goals, link up play, helps the midfield, creates space, finds space, tackles, heads, strong, short passing, long passing, quick thinking. I struggle to think of anyone even close to him, in that role.

Of course, most top teams now play an AMF in the #10 role, so that muddies things a little. But not enough to say that Rooney is not world class.

Not sure how you can define Messi as being the only world class player.... It shows a clear bias toward attacking players.... Who can you compare Messi to Vidic or Cassilas? Apples and oranges.

Carrickature

On the other thread you were stating that you wouldn't be bothered if he left causing a few to think you have an agenda against Wayne

Wayne is in the best 5 players on the planet, has everything in his locker, and would cost around 60 or 70 million if he came up for sale tomorrow

Of course the guy is world class. What is it about his game you don't think is top notch?

I think Rooney would unquestionably walk into every team in the world and would more than likely be first team choice for every team. That for me would put him in the world class bracket.

World class and the way I define it is someone who stand the test of time and will cleary go down as an all time great. Within that criteria only Messi currently would stand a shout. The reason I mentioned Iniesta is because if this Barca team proves to be one of the best of all time then it makes sense that their two best players be world class.

Other world class players - Zidane, Schmiekal, Mattheus, Maradona, Terry....

Rooney frustrates the life out of me sometimes, i would hate him to leave and i think without him we would be in trouble, but il point you to the last 5 mins in the match v QPR on Sunday, i think he lost the ball everytime he got it, when we are leading in a game especially if its a comfortable one, he goes to sleep.

I think the disagreement clearly comes down to what I deem to be world class. I need a sub category I think. Best players of the moment maybe? In which case, Wayne still wouldn't be in my top ten.

Joke. For his work rate I'd have him in my top five.
