Why do Chelsea insist on playing Ramires out wide on the right?
You'd see a much better side of him in the centre.

I think we sign Javi Martinez and play with Romeu and Martinez as the deeper two centre mids. Between them they've got it all:
Power
Technique
Positioning

I have not seen a Chelsea team for a long time look so devoid of ideas and quality. I have also never seen a Chelsea team missplace so many 6-12yard passes.

He's been terrible recently!

Dembele has been playing deeper recently and excelled. I think he could probably do a good job in all midfield and forward positions, such a classy footballer One problem we cuold possibly have though is that he could pull out of challenges or be rubbish at tackling like Meireles is.

I'd prefer to maybe look at Sahin? Either on a permanent move or even a seasno-long loan. Martinez would also be good but be very expensive

Also I agree with WPT. I think Ramires would be better as the 2 in the 4231.

Next season it has to be:
New Midfielder Romeu
New Winger Mata New Winger
Sturridge/Torres

I agree that our midfield is the problem and I´ve been saying it for a while.

What is the solution ?

I´m not sure.

The first option is to simply get rid of everyone apart from Romeu and Ramires and start again although that would be very expensive.

Option two is to bring in another 1 or 2 midfielders this summer while incorporating the likes of McEachran and Piazon into the first team squad.

Without Mata then it's best as 4-3-3 I'd say

What I'm seeing out on the pitch for us at the moment is

4-0-1 - The 1 being Mata

Mata plays better behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1 whereas Ramires plays better in a 4-3-3.

Some fans are saying that there is no room for Ramires in a 4-2-3-1 so something has to give.

Assuming we stay as 4231 I'd hope our 5 midfielders next season would be something like:

Romeu, NewMidfielder, Ramires, McEachran, Mikel/Lampard*One of them sold. Would probably have to be Mikel so we have at least one experienced midfielder here

I'd only play Ramires on the right when we're playing counter attacking football

If we switch to 4231, for that double pivot i think we need 6 midfielders max. I would have:
Romeu, Mikel, Ramires, Mceachran, Meireles and a new midfielder. Unfortunately meaning Lamps has to go

We need a quality/world class playmaker, no more run around like headless chicken type players.

in fairness to AVB he knew that and tried to buy one, but when the $puds said no we had no plan b.

If it was arrogance that they would eventually fold under the weight of Romans wallet then we got what we deserved NOTHING.

In a 433 we leave the full backs way too exposed, thats why we saw Cole get the run around up until around 2 months ago

I agree although we´ve persevered with Mikel for so long now it would be a waste to sell him now.

It would kind of invalidate all the playing time we´ve given him over the years to just dump him now.

He´s no world beater but I´ve resigned myself to Mikel staying long-term as a decent squad player and backup.

Not saying that I necessarily want to sell Lampard because I do think we can get at least another good season out of Frank and there is no way that the club will sell him this summer anyway.
