Chelsea and Real Madrid may have dodged a bullet as reports in Colombia suggest Monaco's £53million man Radamel Falcao may be two years older than his official FIFA age.

Falcao, officially 27, is regarded as one of the top strikers in the world, and the mega-rich French club fought off competition to sign him from Atletico Madrid.

But new reports in the striker's home of Colombia have uncovered documents from his primary school days making him 29 - with his birth date as February 10 1984, not the same day in 1986 as per his FIFA registration.

Maybe missing out on Falcao wasn't quite as bad as initially thought. His number of years left as a world class CF will be 2 less than expected I imagine.

Chelsea have begun proceedings to offer Juan Mata a new contract before the start of the 2013-14 season, in order to ward off a long list of interested clubs and finally end speculation about the playmaker’s future.

The Spaniard is coveted by Barcelona and was last week even the subject of a rumour in which he was reportedly offered to Manchester United in part-exchange for Wayne Rooney.

Chelsea swiftly denied the story, and Stamford Bridge insiders have told ESPN that they were already in the process of tying down Mata’s future at that point.

The 25-year-old’s current deal ends in 2016, but Chelsea want to extend that to 2018 and also raise his wages from under £70,000 a week to £100,000.

Interesting story, there was once a man whose life long dream was to be a geology professor at a top uni. He was a very able person and he obtained two higher degrees from Harvard. Eventually however he realised that if were to teach geology he would have to abandon his Christian faith of the Earth being 6000 years old and even though he knew that was false, he still subsequently gave up on his dream.
