I'm not going to spend much time talking about Potter. He's a good coach who if given time and backing will at very least do fine here.

The problem at the club is how we've been run for too long. The new owners are having to pick up the pieces of the old regime and this isn't going to be a quick fix.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

While I agree, I am slightly worried United and Brighton have nothing outwitted him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure if he's necessarily been outwitted. Feels more self-inflicted than anything else. He's played players out of position and amplified their known weaknesses. I'll cut him some slack as he's still getting to grips with our squad, but I really hope after this thrashing that he's learnt his lesson. The fact he's had to change his set up within the first 45 minutes in 4/5 games should reallt be setting off alarm bells for him.

Obvious errors:
- Playing RLC in a midfield two against PL opposition - in particular teams who usually play 3 in the middle
- Playing Cucurella at LCB (arguably still suffering the effects of tonsillitis)
- Playing wingers as WBs against PL - especially against teams who mostly attack down the wings/won't allow us to dominate possession
- Playing Sterling at WB (feeds in from the last one tbf) - he's arguably our best attacker when you get him on the ball close to goal. Keep him high up the pitch and don't force him to get too involved in build-up where his poor decision making is amplified

These are pretty basic errors that he shouldn't be making. If he can cut these out I'm pretty confident we'll see some improved performances from the team as a whole

Also playing havertz (at all ) as a number 9.

I think we need a midfield three going forward

Jorgino/kova and one other (gallagher or mount).

Then get some width.

If it comes down to an Arsenal vs Man City title race who would you prefer to win?

I think still City on balance, as it's kind of an achievement black hole. Nobody really cares what they do, when they win it it's like nobody won it. But on the flipside it is refreshing to see a team who have been aggressively mediocre for over ten years suddenly turn things around. I don't have much hate for Arsenal but a title win will probably reignite that flame

We sacked one of the worlds elite managers for Potter.

I still think that was a mistake.

But it's happened and we would be idiots not to give him time.

Chelsea hope to finalise the appointments of Christopher Vivell & Paul Winstanley this week. As previously reported, a sporting director is not imminent because Todd Boehly is very comfortable in his current role. He & Behdad Eghbali will remain heavily involved in January

The titles & structure (until established) are not as important as the dynamic. #CFC want a transfer committee with freedom to debate & challenge. Boehly wants a range of experts & perspectives with insight feeding up to him. This may remain so even if he surrenders his title

Told #CFC are still looking for two more key recruitment hires before year is out. The recruitment hierarchy and workflow may take time to establish, especially with group-focused appointments before a model is fully functional. Senior management team very confident in the plan

Tension is growing at Bayern Munich between Benjamin Pavard and coaching staff.

The France defender was linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer with reports suggesting he was open to the idea.

He's been first-choice right-back since joining from Stuttgart for £31.5m in 2019, but Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann has relegated him to the bench in three of their last five matches.

And it appears that decision hasn't gone down well with France international Pavard. He was the first player to leave the Allianz Arena after the match yesterday, having been brought on at half-time.

After sleeping on it, Pavard looked just as annoyed in training this morning. Sky Deutschland's Florian Plettenberg reports he was again the first player to leave.

He was said to have had a "frustrating performance" and didn't make eye contact with the Bayern coaches as he walked off the pitch. Plettenberg added that there's currently no concrete talks about extending his current contract past 2024

We ditched proven ability for potential, always a gamble.

I don't blame it being on Boehly's mind cos Tuchel was slipping. But he gave him so much sway in the transfer dealings & Potter wasn't going anywhere in a hurry (England's the only job that potentially might've opened in the near future). Tuchel's wasn't under any fan pressure either. I don't understand the rush.

But Boehly's actions this summer have been someone who's wanted to make a statement & that's involved fixing a lot of things that weren't broken, so I can't say I was surprised tbh.

It's a gamble for sure and if we don't qualify for CL next season and a team like Newcastle do then we aregonna be watching down the pecking order for getting the best players.

I am not sure what you think wasn't broken - but we have lacked any sort of backroom consistency for quite a while now. We had the right names with the right sounds here and there but can you honestly say what we have done in the last 10 years shown any real merit? No real intergration with arguably the best academy team in the last 10 years, other than selling. Haphazard buying and overly long negotiations often leading to panick buying and then seeing they player we really wanted go for 3 million more than we wanted and then paying 10 million more for a proven has-been or something.......think the backend is need in more of an overhaul than the team to be honest, we have been coasting in that department and Hazard, pieces of the old guard, and a CL trophy allowed us to paste over.......well I will be honest they are not even cracks these days!

Ah also forgot to add: not being able to tie down big players with contracts and basically losing just this last window ~£100million in transfer fees. Massive, massive oversight.

And I think the negative legacy of this might last a long time. Spending that amount of money because of incompetence comes with a massive opportunity cost to the club as to who we could have bought without this feck up.
