Because Malang Sarr left

Cause we aren’t undefeated in the ever important preseason. And money. And instant gratification. And it was better before.

That’s how it will always be. We hit heights never hit by our club before. But it was never going to last forever. Also it’d be boring if it did.

But we nearly didn’t exist anymore. We got fcked hard by your government. We got bought out and now have to start over with people who are not afraid to spend. They may not be great at what they’re getting/doing here but they aren’t afraid to spend on us

Indeed I don’t doubt that they want us to succeed. But it’s hard to be too grateful of their ambitions when the execution has been pretty insane so far, in a bad way.

Anyway I have high hopes for Nkunku 20 goals if injuries aren’t too bad, which is a big if I know

Chelsea have agreed a seven-year contract with Samu Omorodion until June 2031.

Nkunku, Jackson, Palmer, Guiu….

And if they can stay healthy - James, Caicedo, Lavia

posted on 6/8/24

Guiu will end up on loan once signings are made.

I'm really puzzled by this signing tbh. What does it mean exactly?

We blatantly need more goalscorers in this squad so buying a striker that doesn't score much genuinely baffles me.

It's a pretty normal signing under this ownership, very much goes with their strategy.

Buy a player who is under 21 with relatively little to no experience for around £30-40 million. Massive death sentence of a contract. Basically buying potential, hoping some of these kids become superstars and eventually sell them for profit.

Gallagher to Atleti confirmed, £37 million. Not too bad considering one year left on his contract.

Yeah I'm very aware of the pattern of signings under this ownership. My point is what are the club seeing in this guy to make them think he's going to become any good let alone a superstar ? His goal record is very underwhelming, especially for a striker.

Bit early to judge his goal scoring record when he's only had 1 full season at La Liga. No idea what our scouts have seen from him, maybe a hidden gem.

Probably see it as low risk, £35 million and low wages. If it doesn't work out then we sell him for a similar amount or slightly less.

Whereas Osimhen is like £100m and he's on a big salary so if it doesn't work out with him, then it's another flop on our books that we'll struggle to get rid off.

posted on 6/8/24

Yeah I've never really advocated the signing of Osimhen but £35 million for a relative nobody with no track record of any note seems like an odd move as well as a big gamble. If he turns out to be crap then we're not getting £10 million back for him, let alone £35 million.

The other issue is that we need another decent striker in the squad. Last season we pretty much relied on Jackson as the only available striker in the squad. Even if Nkunku stays fit this season we still don't know if he can play as a 9 over the course of a season.

His profile is good

He's a monster, he's big he's fast apparently very good at linking play

Jackson is the main man, for whatever reason jackson is being overlooked by the absolute majority of this fan base

Jackson will kill it next season mark my words so this other fella is a second striker

Plus

Jackson can play wide

I'd rather him than oshimen

Every big money striker wen have signed has flopped

I'm with you on Jackson Mons. I like him but the fact is we only have one striker in the squad. Nkunku isn't really a 9 and even if he was he needs to prove he can stay injury free for more than two games.

Guiu looks likely to go on loan and rightly so as he's basically still a development player, as is Omorodion for that matter.

If Nkunku gets injured again this season we're back to basically relying on Jackson as our only recognised relatively proven striker. Did we learn nothing from last season??

posted on 6/8/24

And it's all well and good saying that every big money striker we've signed has flopped but there's a very long list of cheaper, low profile strikers we've signed that have also flopped. Many of which most of us have actually forgotten about they were so irrelevant.

And really it's not true that every big money signing has flopped. Drogba cost what was at the time considered a very big fee. And Diego Costa wasn't exactly cheap either for the time he was signed. Obviously prices have skyrocketted since then.

That's just two

The list of flops either expensive or not is way too long.

As for Jackson, well he needs to step up at least two levels this season. There were just way too many woeful performances from him last season.

We are also in the midst of stupid psr rules

We can't sign big names like oshimen

So let's look at the players who eventually become oshimen

I dunno, I'm a bit more at peace with the fact our owners are I'm the business of profit rather than winning so maybe I'm just apathetic

So is Omorodion better than Broja?
