In case anyone gets pessimistitus disease from Superb it's worth remembering Superb wanted us to buy Onana.

So if he's worried about Maignan, the odds are he will be the signing of the season

I think Maignan is a proper statement signing and Petrovic is clearly not rated by Maresca, so he was dead to me a year ago.

Maignan would bring much needed experience and leadership to the team so that's a big positive if we were to sign him.

Honestly did something happen with Kelleher?? From what I saw of him he is a top draw keeper, really liked him whenever I watched him. Also done a really solid job when he stood in. Seems a huge miss IMO. Tho I am going off of limited data.

Yeah, I’m a Maignan fan too. He’s obviously much better than Sanchez. I’m pretty optimistic about this news.

He's also a bloody good keeper. WhoScored posted a tweet saying he's made four errors in four years leading to goals, Sanchez made FIVE in this season alone,

Ben Jacobs came out of nowhere about three years ago — no idea who his sourcing is, but it's consistently very good.

Matt Law has got noticeably slower since Marina left and stopped taking him for dinner.

Sky Sports is way behind the others now all it's good journalists got fired in cuts or poached. The Athletic guys basically don't do transfer scoops. BBC is just a verification service...

It's really just Ben Jscobs, Ornstein and Fabrizio who I trust as rock solid transfer in the knows ahead of schedule.

Petrovic definitely isn't dead to me. He's very much still a Chelsea player and he's been outstanding this season by all accounts, statistically one of the very top keepers in Europe this season I believe. By comparison Maignan hasn't had a particularly good season at all as I understand it.

If Maresca isn't willing to give Petrovic another proper look before making a decision on him then that feels rather narrow minded to me.

I think Matt Law probably has connections in Chelsea's new media team and some agents, but I think Ben Jacobs is the one Clearlake feed info to. If clubs are like corporations, they settle on one or two journos they trust.

Fabrizio by contrast, knows all the big agents, they're his main sources.

I wonder what everyone’s biggest miss was in this regard

I was excited for Werner and Ziyech, but seemingly everyone was tbf. Someone else probably has better recollection of someone who I was way over optimistic about.

With Steve I would say Marin was the biggest flop he was hyping up, albeit only £7m.

Hazard is the most excited I’ve ever been about a transfer, so glad that one was a good bet

Oh yeah good point I thought Nkunku would be great. Now he’s arguably my most hated player ever. At least in defence there, he was looking so promising until the pre-season injury, albeit there’s been ample time to recover from that.
