You can only sell players clubs want to buy, and the reality is most of our so-called dead wood is dead wood for a reason. Players like Sterling, Chilwell, Disasi will probably leave late in the window, potentially on loan — because the club knows demand is low and they'll struggle to achieve the value they want in sales.

Yeh man I know, it just sucks. Its even worse cos these players should have been sold last season. Youre 100% spot on, like Sterling didn't pull up any trees at Arsenal so bargin bin he goes

posted on 12/7/25

As long as he can stay fit, Chilly would definitely make it into most of the PL teams outside those chasing CL imo - his wages are no doubt the issue

Disasi has interest but i think we are asking for more than people are willing to pay

Again, I wish we would be prioritising dead wood for shifting rather than B team players. Tho I understand the player wanting to go and all its concerning to me I hear we are selling Petrovic, Mads, and Nicky......instead of Sterling, Chillwell, and Disaster.

Ignoring what the player wanted I would rather have 30 million from shifting Chillwell or Sterling, than 50 million from selling Mads
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The problem is every team knows that we want them off our wage bill and are going to leave it till the last week of the window before attempting to go for them, just so they can low ball offer us.

This is why I didn't like Marseca flopping his d!ck on the table when he came in. Chillwell & Sterling's stocks have plummeted & that's partly his fault - as NPE alluded, if we don't value them as commodities, why should anyone else?

Chillwell I think has one more loan move left before he's a write off, Sterling's already one. Unless Rodgers has a sniff at the eleventh hour (on a terrible deal for us), feel like Sterling's gunna spend this season chilling before a mutual termination next summer.

Honestly tho Sterling is all us - why we are paying him so much is a mystery. Even at City he wasn't playing like someone who could demand that type of money. Why would he move? Sanchoitus!

I think the current directors didnt want to deal with Chilly and Sterling at all - they were mistakes they didnt make - like putting them behind a curtain and forgetting about them was the aim

I wouldn't catagorize Chillwell as a mistake. I thought it was at the time (WELL overpriced) but he proved me wrong, just unfortunate with injuries.

Sterling I dunno. What Simon said

The new regime probably looked at Chilly's contract as an error

I’m always shocked by players like Chilwell and Sterling who would rather sit in the reserves somewhere than lower their wage demands and move to another club. I mean they are earning upwards of £15M per year at Chelsea. But if it were me - I’d be prepared to tear up that contract and sign with a club for £4-5M per year if it meant first team football. I know a footballers career is short and you of course want to earn as much as possible while you can - but wouldn’t you want a chance to play at the highest level you can rather than sitting in the reserves? And it’s not like £5M is chump change.

To be frank I kind of don't blame Clearlake, being new to football ownership, watching Boehly move in that first window & thinking "yeah f*ck that, complete U-turn"

- Sterling 350k/w
- Koulibaly 4 year deal
- 80mil on injury crook CB
- Chuks on 120k/w

This is horrific sh!t.

I dunno, would you take a 2/3 pay cut in your job?

Ah yes the Tuchel advising the business transfer window

posted on 12/7/25

I love Tuchel but that window showed why managers shouldn't have much say over transfers.

Honestly, Sterling I dont blame, his days are numbered. I am guessing 0 aspirations other than making money. Chilly as well might be concerned with his longevity so maybe the same

I did find it funny when he (somewhat) admitted Boehly leaned on him hugely in that window & he hated it/just wanted to coach the team.

I can imagine so many managers watching that thinking you ungrateful b@stard

It’s not exactly a reasonable comparison though is it. I don’t have to sit in my company reserves for a start. And I also don’t make £15M a year. I have no incentive to take a pay cut. Sterling and Chilwell do though if they want to play first team football. It’s totally in their right to stay where they are of course. But I’m just saying if I were them I’d choose football.

Amazingly, Sterling is still only 30. If he quits Chelsea now he could probably sign a decent 4-5 year contract somewhere else. If he waits another 2 years until the end of his contract I’m not so sure he’ll get any offers at all

Is he really only 30? Thought he's like 34/35 lol. Fack me what a terrible signing. I wasn't keen on signing him at all but never guessed it would be this bad.

So would I. A footballer's career is short, I'd wanna create as many memories as I could before it's gone forever.

I've never placed too much importance on money with jobs personally. As long as I've got enough to live on it's at the bottom of my considerations - work/life balance, a good boss & dependable colleagues all far more important to me.

If we want a backup LB and he insists on exiling Veiga, Chilwell could still serve a purpose

At their age no, younger players like Sancho have to figure out if they'd make more taking a cut and affecting their career trajectory

Maybe for someone who doesn't rely on speed so much and can read the game. But lets be honest Sterlings been done for a couple of years, he ain't signing a 4-5 year contract anywhere. Seriously his best move is run down his contract here and head off to the US on a free to retire.

Sporting President -

“If they don't want to pay Viktor's fair market value, we're very comfortable with that for the next three years. This strategy is also making it more complicated for the player to leave. Nobody is above the interests of the club. Whoever they are. We're calm. Everything will be resolved with the market closing, a hefty fine and an apology to the group”.

Arsenal still not willing to meet his valuation according to latest reports in Portugal, still a good €10-15 million gap
