Yes.

If we won the league - no

At the same time I would, but then I look at league position and it would be the first time we finished outside the top 3 in 21 years. So no I won't, because domestic always comes first for me and Fergie.

I would have to say yes. Whether we finished 2nd or 6th, it doesn't really matter if you're not winning trophies. Chelseas 2 trophies make it a better season for them, even if their league form was awful.

Really good question. Its a tough one but yeah I think I would. We'd have two trophies and be in the champions league even though we would have finished 6th.

Yes! Of course. They finished 6th but still qualify next season.

It would have been disappointing to finish so low in the league, and I want us to be challenging for the PL as a priority.
Having said that, I would gladly trade places with them at this point in time. I think it's fair to say that I would be more than happy if we had the two trophies that they won this year.

I wouldn't because the league position indicates the true merit of a club's season. The cup wins would be papering over the cracks of what would be a dire situation for the club.

End of the day they won the biggest club trophy in world football, are still in the CL and also won the FA Cup. I probably would because with the players we have we would still definately be challenging next year. However as Arab said, we haven't been out of the top 3 for 21 years, which is a massive achievement.

I really think we're due a win in the FA cup too, it's ridiculous Chelsea have won 4 in the last 6 years.

I would keep our season because it was hopefully a bit of wake up call for SAF. Hopefully now he will spend some money in the transfer window on players we need to strengthen our squad. I feel if we did win this season, nothing would of changed and we would just get by with the same players next season.

Yes. I would swap it without hesitation.

Put it this way, I certainly wouldn't be arguing with Chelsea fans, saying we had a better season.

Because at the end of the day, we did not. By a long way.

Put it this way, Wayne Rooney has never won the FA Cup. I can't believe we've almost gone a decade without winning it. Been in 2 finals since Rooney has joined and lost both.

PSV

I quite agree with all of that.

It's a shame some of the new school "fans" like Hippo don't appreciate the domestic side of football anymore, finishing in the top 3 for the past 21 years is a pretty hefty achievment and worth putting on the CV of any manager. Trophies paper over cracks for teams that don't finish in the top 4, look at Liverpool for an example.

is this a serious question?

this was possibly the most painful season i can remember whereas chelsea won two thirds of the treble.

of course i would swap, without a single seconds hesitation, who cares if you are second or sixth, it makes no difference if you are still in the cl

Agreed Phoenix, it's a trophy we appreciated very much in the 80's and I rate it very highly. I would love us to win it just one more time before Fergie goes, just playing about 7 first team players and a few youth as well to blend the experience in. I felt we got knocked out quite harshly this year at Anfield, because that had to be one of our best performances there for ages. We literally outplayed them and had it not been for an Evra mistake, we might have took the leg to OT and beaten them there.

Errr I'd bite someones arm off if they offered me the CL or no trophies! Coming second gets you nothing, well other than a CL place, but winning the trophy gets that.

A more interesting question would be suggesting swapping both seasons if our squad was then in the same state as theirs is. On that basis I'd say no as this season is part of a long term strategy, which you can't say for Chelsea's

We do seem to always be drawn against Premier League teams all the time, I remember 1 season where it was nothing but Premiership teams. Very hard to play youth players in those games, if winning is the ultimate goal - Especially since, everyone just plays their best when they play us. I would love to win it again for sure.

As for the OP question, Chelsea had a far, far better season than us. Difference is though, we've learnt a lot more than them. At the moment, their squad needs a lot of work done to them, need to find a new Manager, and already are dealt with a handicap that they are winners already. I do agree with Paul Scholes Vision, at least Sir Alex now sees the need in investing in midfielders. If we had won it again, we would probably go into it with the same squad.

we've won four league titles in six years, chelsea would swap their fa cups won over the same period for that.

If winning nothing means, this summer, sir alex addresses the area in our squad which has needed improving for years now (central midfield), id rather the season we had and wouldn't swap it for Chelsea's....

I don't think it is even a tough question. They have won 2 trophies and will still be in the CL next season. I'd definitely swap.
