As a result, when the ROI asked he decided to accept the offer knowing that, as it was not the seniors, whatever he did would not be binding. Brendan has hinted strongly that if his boy was selected for OWC he would switch back.

Around the World, the number/identity of established senior players who were not selected at the various underage levels would surprise you(I believe Brazil's Garrincha who many rate above Pele, never played underage footy for Brazil) Conversely the number/identity of players who were selected at underage level, but never made it to the senior team is also surprising. There are various factors at play, not least the fact that some players develop more slowly than others. I guess its what you would call "stupid logic".
