thats what frustrates me the most about buying young players like this.
we spend money bringing them in, be it a transfer fee or compensation, spend money, time and resources developing them, pay them a wage, and then have them move on for next to nothing.
The fact he is English is very important. Look at any successful team in England or even any club in Europe and you will see they have a core of home grown players. There is a far better understanding of the culture and general lifestyle that comes with playing for a club in your own country.
Pogba left because he has no loyalty to United or England. You pay extra for home grown players for a reason.
Stop being so negative about a player I'm pretty sure you have no idea about.

I love it how people believe the 8m transfer fee and make up ridiculous wages just because they are trying to put a negative slant on the deal.

1. He is a year younger and won't have actually played for the first team, unlike Morrison.
2. He is going form a league 2 to PL team, not the biggest team in the PL to the Championship.
He'll be on a reserve contract until he proves himself good enough for the 1st team. That is how it works at United.

How does going back on loan help him make the step up? Why pay for the risk of him getting injured in a hectic championship season? If he were a reserves/youth players costing thousands instead of millions but this move will only increase the already high threat of failure we have with these types of midfielder.
also, You go, remove a player with various other options which include being able to start in a championship team who pay bench players 10k a week let alone a starter and you think for the shaky future he is about to enter he will take 3 k a week? what do you think football is now. Do you think morrison warming the bench in westham is getting paid less than 10k a week? pogba is probably earning 30k now and you really think we will pay powell 3k a week and get away with it. Are we drug him and his agent when he signs the contract.
Like i said, get real. He will not cost us more 2/3 million and paltry wages. The price being touted in the first place was 4 million, i do not see it going lower. He will cost us money, time and opportunity cost if he goes wrong and our track record with young midfielders are not good.

1. If he goes out on loan to Crewe next season, he will be playing in League 1. Crewe got promoted you know? Therefore he will be playing at a higher level, which in theory will help him make the next step up. Payers can get injured at any level of football or in training. I don't get your point here. Are we supposed to wrap all players up in cotton wool?
2. Morrison moved to West Ham - a club that are renowned for paying over the odds in wages. He had already shown that he was good enough for the PL and made the first team. He went to West Ham as a 1st team player, hence the fact he is on 12k - reportedly.
3. The average wage in League 2 is about £800. Possibly less for a kid of Powell's age. He would be joining a team in the PL and doing so as a reserve player. He would not be signing as a 1st team player, therefore he wont get a 1st team wage. 3k is entirely reasonable. If he makes a few starts then he will probably get a new deal that will be 10k a week - maybe even more. But United do not give players 10k a week before they even make the 1st team once. You should know this as a United fan.
4. The 4m price tag that was initially being touted was 2m up front and a further 2m in add-ons. Which is probably more realistic than the 6m The Sun are quoting.

The point is he had made the 1st team at United and proven himself capable of football at that level. West Ham were signing a 1st team player. A point proven by the fact he was in the 1st team squad (after he got fit) before he got an injury - I think it was his back.

How much do you think Pogba is on at United right now? How much do you think Morrison was on before he left?
Aquantum - I think that 90min rule has been scrapped hasnt it? As for the 8m I just don't know where that's come from. We've no idea what the price will be right now, but if it could rise that high then it will only be if the lad is very successful so that's good for us anyway.
I'd also reiterate we didn't lose Morrison, SAF rightly didn't even offer him a contract because hit attitude stank and he's done nothing since in the champ. Only time will tell how he develops but whatever happens SAF was right in this case.
I also wouldn't under estimate the standard in Powells league (especially given some of our performances against lower league sides). For a teenager starting his career to win the senior season awards he did is still some achievement and just reinforces his potential. Potential hes also shown for England youth teams. If Tunnicliffe had performed like that or Pogba in the lower leagues on loan then people would be going crazy.
Plus where he started makes no difference, just look at Smalling recently. Powell has done as well as he could in the competitive league he played.

Why is it so hard for your little brain to understand things?
Phil Jones was bought from a PL club with 2 years of PL experience, he was also wanted by most of the top clubs in England all willing to pay around £15-20m for him, I'm also sure Blackburn would have been willing to offer him very high wages to stay as he would have been their main man.
Morrison was considered one of our most promising youngsters ever, however he has a terrible attitude. Ferguson brought him into the first team squad and gave him a chance and he f ucked up which is why West Ham were willing to take a risk offering high wages because he cost them virtually nothing and has the potential to be a great player. West Ham also have the parachute money given to clubs relegated from the PL and so can afford to pay 12 grand a week to players.
Powell is an 18 year old who has just finished his first season in League 1. By the sounds of it he has great potential which I'm sure all the major scouts in England are aware of. Being at a League 1 club and considering his age he is probably on no more than £500-1000 a week. Why would United be so stupid to offer him £10,000 a week? Part of the reason Pogba left us was because we have a very strict wage structure and were not willing to cave into his demands.
Seriously, idiotic fans like you do my head in.

Is that really the issue lol. Can't imagine why I don't pay more attention to that poster
It wouldnt be that weird anyway, unless you only pick mates that support prem sides, and I do know a Crewe fan, but it might help if this guy actually could read and then try and engage his brain. I said " I'm told by friends who are season ticket holders in that division". I didn't say anything about all those friends being Crewe season ticket holders.
He may be amazed to realise people who watch that division regularly do notice other teams players, especially when they really stand out, much like we'd notice if e.g. Tiote played well against us, and they do focus on things in that division more than maybe Prem fans would.
and also jusdging by your comments, your also very hypocritical.
lets look at a couple shall we.

---------------------------------
you say fergie brought him into the first team squad, he played a total of about 90 minutes carling cup action for the first team squad.
Other people on here are saying that league 2 is a better standard than the reserves, so which is it, because if its the latter, powell has proven himself more than morrison who couldnt really fet a kick for the first team
your also saying west ham got him for next to nothing.
well if as been reported on here, we will get powell for about 2 million initially, a WHOPPING double what west ham paid us for morrison
so gain, i ask you this, if were only paying 2 million initially for powell, why is it out of the question for us to pay that little bit extra in wages like west ham did.
after all, they have parachute money to spend on players, how could we ever compete with that
Seeing as the BBC have just said we have signed him for an initial £2m possibly rising to £4m proves you're an idiot.

Seriously, idiotic fans like you do my head in.

ah so your deciding to get personal now are you??
is the ability to actually have a debate to much for you to comprehend, or does everyones opinion have to be the same as yours??
very witty, and you call me an idiot
sounds like someone is so far up his own @55 its untrue
if fergie, aswell as arsenal and liverpool are after him, do you not think fergie would break this structure to ensure he got his man???
if we sign him then we'll see how much he is on, and then one of us will look stupid.

Finally thanks for some of the supportive comments guys, but Im not sure what has been said anyway as it just says filtered, so I expect that has more to do with the anger rather than anything objective on this thread. Probably the reason the filter happened originally.

Someone seems to think that you are making it up about having friends that have season tickets at Crewe. Not sure why they think it is so unlikely.

Tiote played well against us, and they do focus on things in that division more than maybe Prem fans would.

and also jusdging by your comments, your also very hypocritical.
lets look at a couple shall we.

you say fergie brought him into the first team squad, he played a total of about 90 minutes carling cup action for the first team squad.
