You can't have watched him that much then prof, today was nothing like the Murray of old.

Murray and Fed have beaten each other 8 times now, with Murray having age and Lendl on his side.
Rafa has been knocked out early,so it amy happen again.
Murray can do this in future imo,and came closer today than ever.

Well played Andy and Fed.

We never see you on the tennis boards at all prof, so fair to assume that you're just a fair weather fan.

I agree that he has improved on the Murray of old. It seems that Lendl has calmed him down a bit - still lots of work to do however on the mental side of things

I appreciate your positivity about Murray however, likewise optimism of LIW and Bluebells. I can't quite share it though but hope I am proved wrong

I would put my life on him winning one

But I thought there was a big improvement this tournament.

Tennis at the highest level is all about small margins, and todat the missed break points in set two, changed the direction of the match.

Like in all sports momentum is massive and it give fed that

Against Fed, Fed has the talent edge not mental.

Against Djokovic and Nadal, they have the mental edge on him I think, a little.

Still, Murray is mentally strong, it's only by the very high standards at the top that he's not quite there.

prof, Murray isn't my favourite player but he's grown in my eyes in this tournament.

When you see the bile spouted about him on here from people who never ever post on the tennis pages, its shocking.

I can't think of any other player who has to cope with all that additional pressure and then get sla geed off for getting to a final and losing to the best player the sport has ever seen.

Give him time to regroup and I think you'll see great tennis again at the Olympics and US Open.

No, not a fair-weather fan, been watching and playing for decades, just never got so wound-up before about tennis to want to write about it!

Murray today though made me annoyed. I had a feeling about it all beforehand and, a bit like watching the Scottish National football side, huge expectation beforehand led to the too-predictable disappointment

As I said earlier, I hope my assessment of him is wrong

Prof

I think you feel it more being Scottish mate, but if I am wrong, just tell me to do one.
It could be worse for Murray,as he could be a bear too.

prof, apologies, just so many appeared today on tennis boards just to take mick out of Murray.

Before Wimbledon I thought his chance of a slam was slipping away but this is first tournament I've started to see the impact of Lendl.

I now think he's going to win one if he keeps Lendl in the camp and fine tunes his strategy.

I think he's realised that he needed someone lendl, its taken awhile and this has changed his attitude and I think will get him a grand slam

Ha ha bluebells! His team are c**p but at least they have a league to play in!

I get annoyed at Murray because I can see a bit of the old me in him...slightly pampered middle-class boy, had it fairly easy, bit of natural talent but not willing to kill himself to win the ultimate prize. That's why I think his problems are largely mental. There are other bits of his game where improvements can be made, like being aggressive right from the start, like making things happen rather than waiting for things to happen, neverthless it's his mental side which will ultimately let him down. He is not a kid any more. At 25 is his personality going to change that much now?

Absolutely LIW, Lendl is the key.

Initially I was expecting quicker return on investment, but I think 6 months is a fair period and that we'll now see Andy challenge for a top 3 spot and Slam by year end.

I actually look at Murray and think the opposite.

I think he squeezed a lot out of his natural ability and worked probably harder than nearly every other player.

Just look at how fitter, stronger and quicker he is, compared to a few years ago.

And look at gasquet and Murray at 18, gasquet was miles more natural and even now probably ha better ability but Murray has done miles more

had it fairly easy
---------
How has Murray had it easy?

His mum walked out on the family and he had to move to another country to get to the top.

He's put in so much hard work it's untrue.

posted on 8/7/12

Look how his serve has inproved the past six months, which strangely I thought let him down abit today, and you can see he must of been working really hard on it.

I don't see how anyone can accuse him of not workin hard

Murray is terribly unlucky - to live in the strongest era for men's tennis ever.

Agree with most of what you said

But we'll never know if he would have beaten nadal but let's not forget nadal couldn't beat a 100 ranked journeyman

Murray was beaten by a first class Federer also this was Murrays first Wimbledon final and the first time a British player for 74 years, now first set Murray took his chances and had a few great opertunaties in the second set, but failed to take them.

Now will Murray win a grand slam I think
He will, as even though he got beat today he can take allot out of today and build on it, he does need to work on this always looking injured when losing

But his speech at the end showed for me that he does care and opened up which I think will help him win some more fans

Listen everyone.. This is Jontys tennis board ok... And anyone who hasn't posted here before or even on a very occasional basis will either be insulted or labeled 'fair weather' in true patronising fashion...

Jonty plays tennis with agents, chairmen, world pro's, presidents, prime ministers, the dalai lama, Mugabe. .. it goes on... So any opinion other than he's is not valid. .... Ok....
