Fingers crossed a centre mid is signed, and from my personal choice I'd like Cabaye/Moutinho. Quality signings.
No midfielders are coming guys.....not until next summer anyway. Whether we like it or not....that's how it is.
Paul Scholes said as much himself. He hasn't signed an extension to sit on the bench. He wants to play, alongside Carrick presumably. Then there is the likes of Cleverley, Anderson, Giggs, Jones who can play there and Fletch if he comes back.
I'd like to see one signed too. However I don't think it will happen. Fergie is pretty stubborn over this issue.
The major midfield surgery will come next summer when I can see Scholes, Giggs and possibly Fletcher all calling it a day. And if Anderson hasn't done the buisness for another season, he'll be off too.
I don't think Eriksen can play in the double pivot, or if he can it would take some adapting
Don't think we will sign a midfielder. Clearly we will need to in the summer because Giggs and Scholes will have retired, and Fletcher will likely be added to the list too.

I'm sure a lot of us were saying that last season.
I'm not saying I wouldn't like us to get one. I really think we need to.
I just think that's how it will be. Kagawa has been signed for the creativity in the middle, even if he is more advanced. Fergie seems more than happy with his CM choices.
Eriksen isn't a deep CM, and we dont look to sign one anyway.

I see what you're saying, but is it not a little drastic to have a complete overhaul of the midfield in one summer? That team would take time to gel, surely? And it wont help that Fergie will probably be off after that.
I think it makes sense for us to sign at least one midfielder before Giggs and Scholes call it a day. I think both of them would accept that they dont have the legs they once had, and are now squad players.

It would have made sense to sign one 3 years ago.

We tried too, and then you out-bidded us and bought him over to Chelsea. In hindsight, thank you
We're really relying on Carrick, Anderson and Cleverley staying fit this season which is a huge risk to take given the latter two's injury and fitness problems in the past. Scholes can't play 30 games a season and can rarely last 90 minutes when the game is being played at a fast pace. Giggs is a liability when playing in central midfield and Fletcher I don't think will ever play at the highest level again unfortunately.
Home games against "easier" teams:
De Gea
Rafael, Rio, Vidic, Evra
Valencia, Carrick, Clevs/Ando, Nani
Rooney, Welbeck
Against tough teams:
De Gea
Rafael, Vidic, Rio, Evra
Carrick, Scholes,
Kagawa
Valencia, Rooney, Nani/Young
Rio should be a squad player now, we need to start blending in Smalling into the first XI.
Darkpheonix - And I don't regret it
We've needed a new midfielder for the past 2 seasons, doesnt make sense if we wait another season.
You just have to look at last season why we failed, inability to control games and hold on to possession when we really needed to, you might blame the defence but when your midfield can't hold on to the ball then it puts more pressure on the rest of the team, especially the defence, which results in more mistakes.
Mr Tea
I 110% agree.
That doesn't mean It's going to happen. I wasn't saying what I want to see happen more what I think will happen.
Fergie, as great as he is, can be quite stubborn and I personally don't see another CM joining the club this summer. I think Fergie will stick with what we have till next summer.
I don't agree with it....but's that my opinion of how things will work out.

I'm afraid you might be right. SAF stubbornness might see us exit the CL early once again. It's a huge risk going into next season with the midfield we have, it might see us put up a challenge for the league, but when we play the bigger teams domestically and in Europe , it will see us get exposed again.
Possibly.....although blaming the midfield for the CL exit is far too simplistic. There was also a lot of arrogance in our weaken starting 11's and the effort and concentration was poor at times too.
Our midfield was more than good enough to get through. Our attitude wasn't though.
Not entirely blaming the midfield, just fear SAF might believe that using a right back or a central defender as a midfielder is a good idea in some CL games because he needs to keep players fresh, which results in dropping points when it should have been an easy win.
I agree that at times our attitude was poor, but against really top class opposition, when we were up for it, we lacked quality in the middle.
We didn't lose the title against Newcastle away, or Blackburn at home, or even Wigan away and Everton at home.
We lost the title due to the results against City. Although the tactics were bizarre in the second game, we were dominated in midfield on both occasions.

Again far too simplistic. A point at Wigan would have been seen as a poor result at the time but would have made us champions. The results against City would have been forgotten in a flash, even the 6-1 as the title would have made that so.
But that's the past now......We have to look forward.

What about the shambles against Everton and Blackburn?

Would agree. Swap Valencia for Young, and Eriksen for Cleverley.
