Nah, i don't think we will sign anyone who will take Enriques place, i think he will play until he gets it right. But if hes that bad Johnson will move to LB bringing in Kelly at RB.
i think enrique has looked better in the friendlies than he did towards the end of last season.
I get the feeling his dip was down to not making the spanish squad. he had been talking about that when he first moved and then when he wa ignored his form dipped.
hopefully the summer break has allowed him to re-focus
Enrique is a quality left back!
Why would we replace him when we have far more pressing areas to attend to?
I was surprised he has never made a Spain squad but maybe that was just cause i had hardly heard of Jordi Alba. I hope he isn't too disappointed by that as i can't see him knocking alba out now he plays for barca
Fred are you going round every thread and saying " we have far more pressing areas to attend to?"
Im not saying he isn't quality Fred as i was impressed by some of his performances last season but at the same time he had some very poor games ( but that could be said for pretty much every player in the second half of last season).
I was just wondering where people stood on this as i noticed a few people on here had the same concerns if he doesn't regain form
We do have bigger problems than left back and goalkeeper!!
He takes too long on the ball and needs to concentrate more on making simple passes and his positional sense is terrible at times.
He has a lot of strenght and acceleration/pace to get him out of the trouble the above get him in most times, but the others.........
Enrique is a quality left back!
I remember when you lot reckoned he was the best LB in the prem, oh how I laughed. Baines and Cole are far superior.
He's a decent enough option until Robinson is ready. Imo Robinson will be a better player too.

Cole yes, Baines never for newcastle and the first half of last season for us hes been one of the best LBs in the league. He looks affected by something now though 2nd half and pre season hes got me worried.
Baines is a medium sized fish in a small pond. Looked lost for England.
Decent player.
I'd takes Baines over Enrique any day. I have a feeling that one of the loan players BR is looking at is a left back. Maybe Aly Cissoko?
I made a thread about this very issue prior to our first pre season game. I had my concerns about his style clashing with the managers two touch style of football.
I don't think left back will be a position that Rodgers prioritises at the moment.
Potentially it could be an issue if Enrique does not get a good level of form back but right now we have other more pressing issues. We have Flanagan, Johnson and even Agger and Kelly who can play left back if required after Robinson, so we have plenty of options (Johnson has always excelled when played on the left).
Watching Neil Taylor in the Olympics, who appears to be very composed, a good passer, capable of playing both left and right back, I would not be at all surprised if we try to sign him next summer, but not right now.
Cole yes, Baines never
Your full of it. I don't remember Enrique's name in the prem team of the season. Baines has outshone every full- back in the prem for the last 18 months.
I didn't think Taylor looked very good for GB.
Although I heard he was better for club.
We're fine in the left back position. We have a quality experienced left-back as well as a great prospect coming through who shouldn't be hampered by a squad player in front of him. We also have Johnson who can play well at left-back and Kelly who can come in at right back. The defence and goalkeeping positions are fine.
