I was thinking the other day that instead of spending 30 million on this Lucas why are we not trying to get Modric who would be wonderful for us. And we all know Fergie rates him.

Madrid don't seem to be getting anywhere with signing him.

I think its the case that Madrid have turned his head and ,I feel, Modric see's that as his only destination ala Ronaldo.

Modric would fit in perfectly at United in my opinion.

If we can keep Anderson and Cleverley fit, is our CM so bad?

Still think we need physicality in midfield, rather than a playmaker.

Can you rely on Anderson even if he stays fit? Don't get me wrong i would rather Modric goes abroad then to another EPL club.
Never been convinced with Anderson.

Anderson played well against Barcelona last night, doesn't that make him world class now?

Maestro? Ifs and buts. But evidence suggests we won't so why risk it?

We are not bad but in that position, we are arguably the weakest of the top five

Modric needs to join a genuinely big club that can offer CL football. No matter where RVP goes he is guaranteed that next year.

Help the less fortunate and go for Modric

The thing is, as Real Madrid found out £30 million won't get you Modric. I also doubt Levy will sell to a PL team either.

Sorry, I was just on the Arsenal board and a bit of their mentality must have rubbed off on me.

I think you need a physical player AND a playmaker.

And two new fullbacks.

Which is why I say signing RVP(allocating that amount of money) could prove to be disastrous

Levy will not sell to United, just like he would not sell to Chelsea. Chelsea have spent two humilating years trying to buy him, surely United are not going to go down the same blind alley.

That`s why he did not go to Chelsea.

we have bought from spurs before - dont see why they wouldnt sell to use if they get a good amount of money

Modric wants to go to Real and will go. Harry said this week that there was a deal in place as early as last year that if Modric still wanted to go to Real this summer then the club would let him go.
The price is just a temporary stumbling block. It will be announced any day now.

Harry says a lot of things!

If Harry tells me 'Good Morning', i will check the sky and the time to confirm if it's true.

The thing about Anderson is.........he gets ridiculous praise, totally unjustified at times.

Take last night's match for example, despite it only being a friendly......

He started the game and did ok. By no means our world player on the night. He did his job fairly well I'd say but not perfectly.

Then people flood on here and start saying he's wonderful and a legend.

When anybody with a ounce of common sense could see that a 38yr old Paul Scholes was still our best midfielder in that match until he went off. His football braain is about 2 light years infront of Ando's and his passing range is on another planet.

If he is our long term successor for the Ginger Prince, then we're in for a bumpy ride.

There was no mention of Real Madrid last year & Harry has just slipped them in retrospectively to give his comment legs.

The actual agreement was more likely to have been along the lines of: If a club comes in for you with a bid that makes good business for both of us then we will look at it seriously.

This means NOT Chelsea or possibly another PL team, but a team from Europe & the money has to be right for Spurs, £40m.......................
