Sorry take that back you said fact.
Petrov - please also consider in your analysis of today's game that to those Burnley players and staff (maybe not the fans, they would say Blackburn) that was their cup final. They fought like lions, they genuinely took everyone by surprise. On another day we might have drawn that game, they just wanted to Coyle badly. I am not making excuses, I am just saying, I don't think anybody was quite expecting that level of intensity from the Burnley players. Losing that game doesn't mean the next 10/20 games are going to follow a similar pattern. It IS just one game all said and done, and you yourself have actually predicted we will win our next game, even on the back of that performances, so I think you accept my point about it being 1 game.
Although as coyle said being relegated makes us a scalp for most teams and we have to counter that
He did and he's right, but not to the extent we are a scalp for Burnley. Those six-fingered uncle lovers will be dining out on that result for months.
LH - i've been doing this consultancy for 5 years. PG has attended earlier meetings. When he sees me, we stop and chat. He was there last week. 4 of us had a 15 min corridor-chat.
Loads more said too, but not for here.
I promise i'm not wumming. I said last december that OC wouldn't be sacked following a similar meeting. I was slated on here and copier gate was born!
Which we knew well before the game
CEF - OK so here's the million dollar question. If we are 9th on goal difference or by one point, after 20 games, does Coyle go? Is it a concrete target to that degree?
Bedtime for me gents, will read the answer to the million dollar question tomorrow hopefully. Night xxx
LH - I'll try and answer it as accurately as possible.
The 20 games bit is a fact, and if you look at our fixtures, our 20th game is at home to Ipswich on the 1st December. I suspect the reason 20 games was chosen is about timing as well as it is more than enough time for the board to get an accurate position of how we are doing. The 1st of Dec allows the board a month to find a replacement before the transfer window opens, so it seems a reasonable number of games.
My understanding, is the 8th position bit was put forward by OC himself. PG said that OC is a very proud man and has taken relegation personally.
As has been said on here already, the Championship is very tight. 8th position could only be 6 points off automatic promotion. It could just as easily be 6 points off relegation!!! If we have lost our 18,19 and 20th games, and are 9th he will prob go. If we have won those games (i.e.improving), he'll prob stay.
OC may walk away himself (rather than be sacked), because as I said above he has set himself this target.
The main point I was making is that unless we lose all 10 of our opening games (very unlikely to happen), the target for assessment purposes is 20 games.
So OC has taken relegation personally,I should fooking hope so,Its in his job description surely?.
Well be prepared for some very angry scenes from Bolton fans if we are in 8th place after 20 games. Rightfully so as many more neutral fans have said they will forgive relegation if we really have a go this season. What has been suggested is not that?
Petrov- I guess that depends what 8th actually means. We could only be a few points off 2nd. Its a very tight league usually.
This will all be hypothetical anyway!
It means that the many people on here who bought the better team and one of the best squad lines will wonder why 7 teams are doing better. We should be top 3 most of the season. However you dress it up 8th after 20 will be underperformance again to all but a few. Bolton Wanderers football club have stood a lot from this regime and rightfully expect better this season.
Bolton Wanderers football club fans that is
Petrov - a couple of points.
First it is a target set by the board and OC in discussions over the summer. I didn't set it and neither did any other fan on here or in the stadium. I guess ad a business, some sort of target had to be set, and it seems reasonable.
Second, you say we should be top 3 most of the season. WHY? Very rarely does that happen in this league. Thete are 6 or 7 other clubs who will be rightly thinking the same. The important thing is to be in the top 3 in May, not August.

Apparently we have a good manager and squad that's why. This same board backed megson for a long time.
8th after 20 games is most definitely not reasonable. That will take us into December
