Sane will be a huge upgrade on Werner and will add some much needed experience to the squad.
But, he is almost 30, and will demand massive wages which will bring Levy out in a cold sweat.
He could be good for a 2 or 3 year deal, will help bring on the youngsters etc, the question is has he still got it and still got the hunger

But if Levy decides to keep Ange, let gets busy in the transfer market. I would give Ange the first 5-10 games of next season, to see if he has adapted and learned from all the losses from last season. If not bye bye.
And you would hope if he has someone else lined up, discussions have already taken place about targets and we can still make instant moves.
We cannot be faffing around.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I suppose it depends on the fixtures, but what are you think in terms of points return from 5 - 10 games.
Average 2 pts? Home wins, away draws?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure. But say we lose our first three games, the pressure will be on stragiht away and vice versa for the other way.
Results will ultimately matter so year probably around 2 points per game would give Ange a great start.
Remember when we had 2 points from 8 games under Ramos? Something as dire as that, gday mate. Bye mate.

I can’t see it with anyone coming in doing both as no one except Poch has been able to under this ownership
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Redknapp came pretty close. 2 top 4 finishes, a CL QF, 2 FA Cup semis and a League Cup final all in almost 4 seasons.
There are managers out there who I think could get this club back up to the top end of the table. If we don't think Ange is capable, we should move him on for the next guy to try.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So Ange has a 5th and semi final and trophy in 2 seasons. That Trumps any Spurs managers first 2 seasons.
Seems some are very happy to celebrate mediocrity with certain managers but not cut Ange the same slack
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No talk on what Ange has done should involve overlooking coming 17th in the league and all the losses. Is it not a big part of why we actually won the Europa in the first place? He said he binned it off for the sake of winning the trophy, so it's disingenuous to disregard that and only mention the highlight.
This is also why I'm not putting him up there with Redknapp and Poch for now. They won most weeks. Ange has more losses than wins. If he ends up getting another season and he gets us top 4 then we can reconsider it?

I'm not convinced by Sane. Yes he's an upgrade on Werner but who isn't? It's like if we let go of Son and got Sane in, we'd be replacing like for like. They had similar seasons statistically and having watched Sane a bit he is wildly inconsistent and frustrating.

I still like the sound of Xavi as manager because he plays 4 3 3, loves the tika taka and is not afraid to play youngsters (if they are good enough).
He has played under top managers and he has won a title, even though he was limited to what he could do the transfer market. Sound familar.

Agreed. You cannot.ignore 17th but you also cannot ignore the circumstances that contributed to it.
And in hindsight, having seen Madders Bergvall and Deki all get injured, he was right to protect the team as much as he did for the final.
Funny to, think that Arry got us 4th and was sacked but most fans also admit that top 4 has too much been our focus at the expense of trophies and we have seen us sack off cups and prioritise the league, this time we did the opposite and on balance I think it was the right choice. As Ange said, 3rd and no cup would not have moved the dial much. Getting that cup, getting that monkey off our backs, setting a new standard I think will help us long term and potentially change the club, give us something tangible to build from.
For me, on balance, I think we need to see if he can build from it. The transfers need to be right too but we really need to be in the mix the Newcastle Villa Chelsea next season.

Maybe we did leave ourselves too focused on top 4 before but under certain previous managers we were getting top 4 or challenging for top 4 and progressing far into cups to be able to almost taste the trophy. That's the distinction between them and Ange.
You say he got top 5 first season and then a trophy second season, but the first season we got nowhere in the cups and the second season we got far in cups and won one but nowhere in the league. It's not been a consistent level in both, which is what I want to see. If we performed poorly in the league again under Ange, I still wouldn't say there is a guarantee of a trophy either, not only because he'd be sacked for not performing in the league again but because there's an awful lot of luck that can go for and against you in cups.
