could well turn into that £100+ million player and we are looking back thinking why didnt we sign him now for that money but we could just as easily ruin his development
----------------------------------------------------------------------

should have got him for the 18m Palace spent.

But you can also imagine the ire of some fans, if we had bough another kid!!

When they work out no one really mentions it. When they fail the club are beaten with it for years. Plenty calling Phillips a waste of money, @ £2m, signed aged 18. Could be the next VVD, but our expert fans who have probably never seen him kick a ball call him a waste and should be sold....yet are promoting £70m+Bissouma on Wharton, who may turn out to be the next Rice, or may be just the next Kalvin Phillips.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't help thinking that Ange will be used as the scapegoat for whats gonna be viewed by many as an underwhelming window. Granted the cup win was fun but the clubs stance might be that we sacked him because he grossly underperformed with the quality at his disposal.... & they might be right.

I suspect that Kudos for Son will be a wash, We'll hope we have better luck with injuries, Bergvall and Gray continue their development and we finally get a consistent tune out of the Likes of Madders, Bissouma etc. Add that to a more sensible and pragmatic coach & the club is probably thinking if all goes well, this is a top 6 squad.

We all know Levy grossly overvalues his own players and undervalues everyone else's which makes it pretty hard for us to be proactive in the mkt. You hear very little noise about other clubs interest in our players !
----------------------------------------------------------------------

TBF, Ange got 5th and then 17th, despite having added players to the squad. I think we all agree that:

injuries played a part
Ange's tactics played a part
sacking off the PL for the Europa played a part

we are comfortably better than 17th and probably top 8 with what we have.

We dont need more kids adding to what is a pretty young group. Tokai and Vuskovic are fine because their 5th and 6th choice. The opportunity to add big signings is a bit more hard to achieve. We can offer UCL but a player will also look at us and see 17th, new manager, a bit of turmoil, a bit of unknown and question whether now is the right time

Someone of Kudus' level is doable, MGW also. The next level up from there, Spurs are a bit of a harder sell right now. Think we're in a tough position in getting big players. Doable, but slightly at the mercy of some of the more successful clubs who will be looking at the same players.

We may have to see what's left after the big dogs have had their fill. And then make a decision, do we want to go large on the left overs, or perhaps keep our powder dry for now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Totally agree...... Realistic expectations after a bonkers season should be the way forward for the next 12 months or so.. Let Frank do his thing.. we have plenty of good players who are a lot better than what they showed under the last 18 months of Ange.... Personally, I'd like to see some proper coaching and player/ tactical improvement rather than looking desperate and chasing available players at stupid prices. Just never know with Spurs... we'll probably sign 2 more wingers in the last days of the window and end up with an even more lopsided squad

Fact is despite our youth team winning cups recently we do have one player who ready to walk into the first team or even on the the subs bench if everyone was fit.

I think George Abbot is probably the best prospect we have at the moment. I would say right he has a better chance than Moore of making it but obviously Moore has time on his hands.

It's annoying Woolwich have Miles-Skelly, Nwaneri and now 15 year old Max Dowman who is a freak.

I have heard good things about Rio Ngumoha who is 16 and played every pre season game fot Liverpool. Ex Chelsea lad.

Chelsea have a Messi regen call Rabbaj who is 15 as well.

Our next best hope after Moore is Luca Williams-Barnett who is 16. Let hope one or two are able to break into the first team.

Looks like another quiet day on the transfer front. I know the window doesn't close for a month or so but it would be good to actually get more players in before the season starts, when they might be able to play a part in earning us points in the games we'll play before the transfer window closes.

I think we are up to the limit in terms of numbers and waiting for outs. Problem is Richy and Biss don't seem to be in a rush to leave. You would think if Son is going to go, it will be after Sunday's game in Seoul?

Not rumours regarding Solomon or Gil either.

Are we doing everything we can to make them leave? I'm wondering what they're being told because they should be told that they are surplus to requirements and won't get much game time. You would think to a player like Rich, who is 28, with 50 Brazilian caps already and with a World Cup coming up, it would make him want a move away.

For all we know though, the club is leaving him with hope that he can seek more game time and therefore has less desire to move.

Thing is with players that you have to shift clubs will just wait for the price to drop. No one's bidding the asking price for Richarlison or Gil or Solomon.

They'll go but we won't be happy with the price probably

I'll be happy selling lower than our valuation if it means we bring in new players or potentially a much better player to come in their place.

Don't know what we value Richy at but £30m would be fine by me and I can't see why a club out there wouldn't pay that.

Am I reading this right. Fab Romano just said that Rangers will have an option to buy Mikey Moore for 30m. Surely feckin not??!!

posted on 29/7/25

I doubt we'd agree to that or they'd pay that or he'd agree to that

Yeah £30m would nearly double the highest ever fee paid by a Scottish side. That ain't happening

Going to the SPL doesn't really do much for Moore's development.

Still, if he was instead going to Dortmund it would be ideal.
