MacFarlane is a fraud his type of 'comedy' is overkilling a joke

Sheriff you can actually sit
through Desperate
Housewives...??

Are you kidding? It's not a "man's series" but it probably has the best cast on tv.

Can't believe people here dont watch 'The Good Wife'.

As comedies go, happy days , Cosby show,Cheers and Frasier were my best

Ryo.... Ray Romano is a horrible lead - such a dreadful voice
granted the mum in that is quite funny though

Also sad to see "House" end. Hugh Lawrie was my favourite character on TV even though the show itself has seen better days.

In my opinion Breaking Bad isn't even in the same league as The Wire or The Sopranos but to be fair nothing I have seen since watching them seems to compare.
Anyone seen Treme?
Boardwalk Empire and Newsroom are both pretty good and Entourage was entertaining. Anyone who's seen either The Shield or Game of Thrones how many episodes are needed before you get into them as I've struggled after 1 or 2 episodes of both.
Comedy wise Archer, Boondocks, Louie (although not strictly comedy), Curb Your Enthusiasm and Black Dynamite are all worth a watch,

Game of Thrones will take you a minimum of an episode and a half, great show.

In terms of writing what would you compare it to?

You're right - Breaking Bad is pretty much in the tv equivalent of the Premier League whereas The Wire & The Sopranos are in the Championship

Game of Thrones probably requires four episodes or so .

Writing? Nothing like it as a TV show. It is also not a typical Good vs Evil swords and scandals epic.

The dwarf/midget is by far the best thing on the show.

Tyrion Lannister is one of the best characters on tv without a doubt

Breaking Bad is best, no doubt.

I can understand BB won't appeal to everyone, it progresses slowly and there are phases where it seems there's nothing happening - but I'm completely hooked!

Only found out about it in July and been playing catch up all summer. Don't watch anything else in the evenings now. Last night saw episode 1 of season 5. Might be best that way, as the plot's always fresh in your head.

The character are superbly played imo.

When's Walt's kid going to get hooked on meth?

I just can't accept that Malcolm's dad has become a meth dealer.

ha, well i only started the Sopranos in June, about half way through season 5 now

i'll give Breaking Bad another shot, the 1st season did end very well. it wasn't so much that i actively disliked it as i was under-whelmed, especially considering how much all my mates and everyone here raved about it

Way too late to the party, but I would suggest that you guys watch 'Person of Interest'. It's been absolutely sublime so far.

Really, AFL? I've seen two episodes so far and I've got to say it's left me cold tbh.

We're recording the series as Miss Lexington is more into it then I am, so I'm still open to it changing my opinion, but as I say, so far I'd categorise it as being forgetable mid-week telly fluff.

posted on 13/9/12

Fair enough. Each to their own, Lexington. What I will say is that it takes a little while to get into it. It has taken me five episodes. I enjoy it, I was lost at first but it is starting to get going now.

I'd give it a couple more weeks.

DCH - I'm guessing your friends have already seen the 4th and 5th seasons which is why they would hype it up for you Personally, I've enjoyed 61 out of the 62 episodes that's been aired - watched the first 4 seasons back to back within 12 days..

The Sopranos for me, the acting alone is of such a high quality, it's better than you see in even top films. Great characterization too. I love the Wire and Breaking Bad as well though. Has anyone seen Deadwood? That's brilliant as well.

Artiki-taka, have you seen a film called "Winter's Bone"? Not going to spoil it for you, but I think you might like it if you like BB.

Just watched the BB episode where....

Spoiler alert

Hank beats the Carp out of Jessie and then gets shot by the tuco cousins at the end before blowing their brains out. absolutely fantastic television and story telling/character development. The show starts with Hank as the A-hole alpha male brother in law to Walt's nerdy science teacher, and in one episode the writers manage to get the audience feeling sorry for this character, whilst still showing why he's still a badass. Just brilliant.

End Spoiler

Basically, watch breaking bad
