Routledge and Maynard please!
Although I'm not a Maynard fan (mainly due to it dragging on so long), I'm getting to the stage where I just wish we'd just sign a goalscorer!
Well it strikes me that if Sven thought there was a better available option he would have made a move by now.
I would be very surprised if we did not sign someone to lead the line in the next two weeks.
The very person who could fill that berth would be Jimmy Bullard.
Yes I know the cost of keeping him may be horrendous, plus the odd brush with discipline at the KC. Sven may as well contact NP and see what's what.
We need a player up front with his class, if only for a season by which time we may have achieved our target- promotion. Get him away from Hull now.
Sorry I meant better than Maynard.
I know JB is essentially a midfielder but we've all seen how effective he is up front.
Bullard would be a good shout on a 6 month loan with option to extend or buy.
Good player if he stays free from injury.
That's the problem Spoonie-injuries and how much City would have to fork out just to keep him in plaster. On his day he could tear any defence apart. I wish we had him here but he's been suspended at Hull. If the outcome was for him to 'jump ship' I wish we would nab him.
I wouldnt mind if we had Maynard, The Yak or Heskey, any striker will do.
What we have now didnt even play today, what does that say?
The Yak and Routledge, though i like the look of Schlupp. Not sure why Vassell has kept his place under the radar.
Bullard looks like trouble to me. I'd prefer to steer clear.
I'm inclined to agree that Bullard looks troublesome. A mercenary with a bad attitude and injury prone.
Spoonfox is right to point out the striker situation. At the moment it is a gaping hole waiting to be filled. That Steve Howard still looks our best option says all we need to know really (at that is no disrespect to Big Steve).
I keep trawling the internet daily hoping to see that we have signed a striker. The Maynard situation is getting tiresome and it makes me wonder whether we should already be concentrating upon other targets.
Bullard has explicitly been up for sale for more than 12 months, with no takers. I think we can take it as read that no other club (including Hull) thinks he's worth £45k per week. I'm not sure why we would reach a different conclusion.
Carew might be worth looking at. He's probably been on similar high-altitude wages, but being out of contract means he doesn't have the luxury Bullard does – of saying 'If nobody offers me big money, I'll just stay put and collect it from my current club'.
Carew would seem to be just the sort of strong front runner we are crying out for. He could be devastating at this level.
is dave nugent injured at the moment by the way?
