The last surviving Battle of Britain ace pilot from World War Two has died aged 101.

Wing Cdr Paul Farnes was among the 3,000 airmen - The Few - who defended England's skies in 1940.

He died at his home in Hampshire on Tuesday morning, the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust said.

Paying tribute, it described him as a "distinguished man - who was generous with his time in support of the trust".

There are now thought to be only two surviving members of The Few - Flight Lieutenant William Clark and Flying Officer John Hemingway, both aged 100.

The trust added Wing Cdr Farnes was the last member of The Few fit enough to be able to attend the aerial conflict's memorial day in 2019.

It said he had "proudly" represented his RAF colleagues at the service of commemoration just a week before his 101st birthday, in July.

The trust said Wing Cdr Farnes was "very proud" of his Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM), which he received for his exploits in the Battle of Britain.

Liam Scarlett, one of the UK's leading choreographers, has been suspended by the Royal Ballet after allegations were made against him.

The company said it had opened an independent disciplinary investigation.

It did not give details of the allegations, but The Times newspaper reported that he has been accused of sexual misconduct with students.

The 33-year-old, who began as a dancer with the Royal Ballet, has not commented on the allegations.

Bruno Fernandes says he will give "everything" to bring "success and trophies" to Manchester United after joining on a five-and-a-half year deal from Sporting Lisbon.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will hail the "dawn of a new era" on Friday, as the UK prepares to leave the European Union after 47 years.

In a speech to be shown at 22:00 GMT - an hour before the official departure time - he will say Brexit is "not an end but a beginning".

Mr Johnson was able to get his own deal through Parliament after winning December's general election with a House of Commons majority of 78, on a pledge to "get Brexit done".
