The calendar of saints is the traditional Christian method of organizing a liturgical year by associating each day with one or more saints and referring to the day as the feast day or feast of said saint. The word "feast" in this context does not mean "a large meal, typically a celebratory one", but instead "an annual religious celebration, a day dedicated to a particular saint".

Poland's top court has ruled that abortions in cases of foetal defects are unconstitutional.

Poland's abortion laws were already among the strictest in Europe but the Constitutional Tribunal's ruling will mean an almost total ban.

Once the decision comes into effect, terminations will only be allowed in cases of rape or i ncest, or if the mother's health is at risk.

Rights groups had urged the government not to increase restrictions.

The Council of Europe's commissioner for human rights said the day marked a "sad day for women's rights".

"Removing the basis for almost all legal abortions in Poland amounts to a ban and violates human rights," Dunja Mijatovic wrote on Twitter.

Scotland maintained their 100% start to Women's Euro 2022 qualifying by brushing aside Albania at Tynecastle.

Shelley Kerr's side were dominant throughout and took the lead thanks to a header from captain Rachel Corsie.

A double from Caroline Weir in the second half made sure of the points that, in truth, never looked in doubt.

Scotland move back into second in Group E with three wins from three, a point behind leaders Finland who they face in Helsinki on Tuesday.

Cyprus lost 3-0 to Portugal earlier in the day.

The Scottish government has told children to stay at home this Halloween.

In guidance issued a week ahead of 31 October, people have been told guising (going door-to-door) and parties are not encouraged.

Instead, people have been asked to have safe Halloween celebrations at home.

It comes as clinical director Jason Leitch suggested the central belt would be put into tier three restrictions on 2 November.

The Halloween move was announced on the Scottish government's Parent Club website.
