Jeffrey Whitefoot (born 31 December 1933) is an English former footballer who played as a wing half in the Football League for Manchester United, Grimsby Town and Nottingham Forest. He was capped by England at under-23 level in 1954.

After Billy Gray's death on 11 April 2011, Whitefoot became the only surviving member of the 1959 FA Cup winning team.

The death of Bill Foulkes on 25 November 2013 also means that Whitefoot is the last player still living to have collected a league title winner's medal with Manchester United in the 1955–56 season, having played 15 times in the league that season. However, seven of the United players who qualified for a championship medal that season lost their lives as a result of the Munich air disaster on 6 February 1958, including Eddie Colman, the player who ousted Whitefoot as the club's regular right-half during that season.

After leaving football, Whitefoot ran pubs in East Leake and Oakham. He has been called "the last of the Busby Babes".

The head of the company building two delayed and over-budget CalMac ferries has been sacked.

Chief executive David Tydeman's contract was terminated by Ferguson Marine as the board attempt to ensure the company's "long-term future".

The exact reasons for his departure have not been revealed.

The cost of the two ferries is running at about triple the initial £97m cost and they will be delivered six years late.

Mr Tydeman joined the Port Glasgow shipyard in 2022, having previously run a yacht-building company.

Non-executive director John Petticrew is taking over as interim chief executive.

Wales were absent from major tournaments for 58 years following the 1958 World Cup but, since ending that drought with a mesmerising run to the semi-finals at Euro 2016, qualification has become the expectation rather than a mere pipedream.

Pizza chain Papa Johns has said it will close nearly a tenth of its UK restaurants - all of which it says are "underperforming".

The closures follow a review of the business which identified sites that were "no longer financially viable".

The chain, which has 450 restaurants plus others in service stations and holiday parks, will close 43 sites but has not said how many jobs will be hit.

Separately, Revolution Bars has said it could sell "all or part of the group".

Its announcement followed reports that said Revolution could shut about 20 bars, or a roughly a quarter of its outlets.

Announcing the Papa Johns site closures, UK managing director Chris Phylactou said: "Our priority is our team members, who will be fully supported throughout this process.

"Our goal is to work with impacted team members and attempt to find redeployment opportunities where available."

The closures are all in England and extend from Harrogate, North Yorkshire to St Helens, Merseyside, Billericay, Essex and Eastbourne, East Sussex.

All of them were "underperforming locations that are no longer financially viable", the company said.

Wales agonisingly missed out on qualification for Euro 2024 as they suffered a penalty shootout defeat in their play-off final against Poland on a night of crushing disappointment in Cardiff.

In what was a first shootout for Wales' men in a competitive match, Daniel James missed the only spot-kick - saved by Wojciech Szczesny - while Poland converted all five.

It was a desperately painful way for Robert Page and his players to lose, beaten by a Poland side who failed to register a single shot on target during the entire 120 minutes before the shootout.

Robert Lewandowski's side can now look forward to joining France, Netherlands and Austria in Group D at this summer's Euros in Germany.

Crestfallen Wales must watch from afar having failed to qualify for a European Championship for the first time since 2012.
