Boyd, Miller & Smith

Boyd: i'd take him back. Score for fun in the lower leagues and hopefully has had enough experience to teach the youngsters that the grass isn't always greener on the otherside.

Miller: less inclined to take him back, although he was good for us he is at the end of his career and id prefer the younger players get more of a shot. Maybe on a pay as you play deal?

Smith: not really kept up with him since he left scotland. How has he been getting on in the states? For what it's'worth I rated him highly when he was here and at aberdeen.

Brother Coisty would have these two back in a minute, the only problem I see is does he think there still, the same players they were when they left.

Miller hasn't been great since he left and to be honest has struggled

Boyd has been rank rotten, and don't forget he left Rangers for More money so would the fans take him back ?

I think Coisty needs to build for the future and sorry I don't think Miller and Boyd are that

I disagree with your point on Alexander

I dont think he will leave as

1. He wont go anywhere competing for trophies Unless hes happy being a bench player
2. I doubt hell get anymore money as he is on at Rangers

Also i think Alexander will sign. I'm hearing rumours that he is wanting a 2year deal instead of 1. Even for the money he will be on (10kpw is the offer as far i understand) at 35yo a 2year deal isn't a ridiculous proposal. He is a decent keeper who has served the club well whenever he has played

Miller and boyd - I'd take em

Smith- not so sure, given his previous injury record don't know if he'd stand the rigours of football in the 2nd

Alexander - never trusted him 100%,won't be good enough for the spl anyway. Two year deal max and bring in someone with potential as backup who can eventually replace him. Hope this aussie's up to scratch

"S Smith - could have been great"

But for his lack of skill and ability to defend

I'd take Boyd back in a second.

Wouldn't even give Miller a ticket for the next home game never mind a contract.

Would rather sign Neil Lennon than Stevie Smith.

No way I'd take Boyd back; hardly a model pro by any standards. For me the epitomy of the modern day British lazy footballer; arrogant attitude and with poor fitness and conditioning.

But the greatest goalscorer our top flight has ever seen. With our lack of out and out strikers, we'd be mad not to consider him.

Miller is a great pro - He's superfit, fantastic work-rate on and off the ball... But he's absolutely awful

Bring back King Kris

Boyd was a goal-machine in the spl

Remember the term"diddy-slayer"?.......well is that not EXACTLY what we need now?

I'd pass on all three of them.

I'd rather see the young guys who have stuck with the club over the last year get a chance instead of paying over the top wages for guys like Boyd who are just looking for an easy ride.

They know they wont be good enough to get a decent move anywhere in the UK but might be able to secure a nice wage and easy living at Rangers.

And also, Neil Alexander has been a pretty decent keeper for us when called apon and stuck with us over the summer. For that I'm happy, but seriously, do we really need to be paying an ageing keeper £10,000+ a week in this division?

I know the same could be said for the likes of Shiels, Templeton etc. But at least those guys provide the fans with entertainment, Alexander just has to stand there and make a couple of saves now and again.

At the weekend he barely had a save to make apart from the one he fumbled.

I dont see why younger keepers like Blair Currie or Scott Gallacher shouldnt be given a chance like Lewis McLeod and Barrie McKay have.

Not having a go at Alexander, I like him, but I wouldnt be held to randsom over him.

Tafka - You can't argue with it, Boyd IS the greatest goalscorer the SPL has ever seen. And the SPL IS Scottish football's top flight. Struggling to see your gripe.

Probably a conspiracy

Boyd in a heartbeat.

I called it poetic licence not a gripe....

Statistically yes, he scored the most goals but there have been many "greater goalscorers" than he was/is playing in Scotland over the years if you take into account their overall game.

No to all 3!!

No use for the mid-term when we'd expect to be in the SPL....Miller and Boyd on account of their age, Smith on account of his lack of ability.

No use in the short-term either as..... 1) our squad is easily good enough at the moment to win Div 3 and 2

and 2) they would automatically hold back the development of 3 of our Murray Park youngsters who will all improve with two years' playing experience working our way up through these leagues.

Boyd and Miller could certainly do a job for us at this level, and of all the different parts of the team we are weakest up front but they are definitely not going to get any better as players.

At the very most I'd could see Miller, of the three, being able to make a decent contribution over the life of a 12-18 month contract but would rather we looked to our own youngsters, or some up and coming youngsters from elsewhere whose ability and value will increase in their time with us

Miller has a had a better career than Boyd. He's the better player.

Boyd's scoring record in European & Celtic games was abysmal. A good poacher against average sides mind you.

It annoyed me when folk would moan about Boyd "he's doesn't work hard enough" , "he doesn't do enough for the team" .The facts are he put the ball in the back of the net better than anyone since Ally Mcoist.

Strikers are judged on the amount of goals they score ,not on how much they run around the pitch. Boyd's strength was his awareness to allways be in the right place at the right time.

I'd take him back tomorrow. The youngsters could learn alot from him.

Bring in Andy Webster to shore up the defence

Return:

He clearly didn't work hard enough. He would be top scorer in the SPL and Walter still wouldn't pick him for European or Old Firm games.

I can only say wait and see. Weigh up all the factors and see who's worth signing. Any one of them might be worth taking on at the right cost, when weighed against the other options. Any one of them might do a job in the lower divisions at least. Though Smith looked like being a much better player before his injury problems.

Take in the overall game of "great goalscorers" and the guys who scored less goals are the "greater goalscorers"...

Aye ok
