Someone mentioned 2 year stop gap. Which is probably about right. He looks better than Torres but to be honest who in the league doesnt. Not a top class forward, would he replace Rooney,RVP,Aguero,Dzeko,Tevez,Hernandez,Welbeck or Ballotelli at the manc clubs , no he wouldnt. So to sum up ,for me an improvement to the squad depth & will be ok as 3rd 4th choice striker. If we want to compete at the highest level we seriously need to invest in some world class talent up front or hope one of Lukaku,Feruz or bamford really comes good & soon. Would Ba get a game for Barca,Real,Bayern,Inter Juve,Shaktar,Dortmund, again no he wouldnt.Thats not to say for the price it wasnt a bad deal for the club, just he isnt at the ability level we should be aiming for if we want to seriously challenge the big boys once again.

Welbeck is awful.

His first touch is about as good as Torres's.

He would replace Dzeko, Hernandez, Welbeck and Balotelli. I'd say he's about the same as Dzeko ability-wise. Welbeck has scored the one goal this season but apparently is still better than many other strikers, Balotelli has been rubbish and City are looking to get rid. Hernandez is terrible and would look out of place in League 2, the most horrendousestniest player ever

He would get games for Inter, consdering they have just a 32 year old Milito as their best striker. He would get games for Juve, considering their strike options are Vucinic(can't finish), Giovinco(been poor), Matri and Quagriella (both poor). It's no surprise they eve have to get Anelka on loan just to get more options. He would get games at Shakthar, who have two strikers, one nearing 30 (Eduardo) and the other is pretty meh, Adriano.

I hardly see it as a negative that Ba isn't a world class striker, consdering Mata is the only world class player in the squad, maybe Hazard as well.

Dzeko is the better play maker, better at creating his own chances, better first touch, better finisher, better in the air, stronger player.

Clapham you're getting caught up in this whole self-pity act. The grass is always greener I'm guessing? I am not overrating anyone - I'm just saying Ba is a good striker. Not world class, you are right, but he's definitely adequate for a top team. I like how everyone wants someone better than Torres - we get someone better, and it still is not enough. I would also love Falcao/Cavani or whoever, to come in summer but in the mean-time Ba was one of the best options we could get and frankly I'm happy with him. Why aren't you happy with him?
