Bale isn't great technically, but he is quick, athletic, powerful, can cross a ball, he can shoot, he passes the ball well and he is a match-winner.
Nani is very talented, but he's been frozen out of the United squad. Bale's been the best winger in the league this season by quite a distance. But even you can acknowledge that he's one of the best wingers in the Premier League, so why are you calling him a 'headless chicken' and saying people will forget about him in a year or so?
The guy is 23 years old and he's been improving every year. He would get into every single team in the Prem.
Nah I do think he is not that kind of player who can play everywhere in every team. But not because he isnt good enough but maybe because of his mentality.
If Bale was Spanish and played for somebody like Valencia you would all be wetting yourselves about him. Just blinded by his nationality and club allegiances.
"I must have imagined Bale switching wings, and playing as a number 10 for a lot of this season then."
And that failed miserably.
Even Spurs fans were saying he's not suited for that position.
"He is not 1 dimensional at all, he has good technique, a strong right foot, can cut in, can create, can cross, is a hell of a finisher. He is a beast physically, you add all of that up and he would succeed no matter where he goes."
Strong right foot! Did you see the open goal he missed with that "strong right foot"?
He's technique is ok though.
But all you stated is things we already know him for. In fact, you've tried to make him look even better.
All he does is run in a straight line.
"Watch the last 10 mins of the Spúds match yesterday, they hoofed the ball up to him 3 times and at full throttle he was able to take the ball down into his path with ease."
You sure you didn't see that on MOTD?
"But even you can acknowledge that he's one of the best wingers in the Premier League, so why are you calling him a 'headless chicken' and saying people will forget about him in a year or so?"
He is a headless chicken because he plays one way, and runs in a straight line.
He has little variety or subtlety to his game.
He's still a very good player.
I just can't stand the hype you've all fallen for.
We've seen plenty of players like Bale. Guy's nothing special. He'll just be another good player, in a while.
No it didn't fail miserably as he has scored Spurs' last 4 goals and 3 of them have been from playing central. So what if he missed an open goal on his right foot, he has scored some great goals on his right foot too, anybody can miss a sitter, it doesn't make them crap.
And all he does is run in a straight line? I mean seriously. What am I meant to say to this garbage? If you actually believe that then you obviously don't watch him and there is no point discussing it anymore.
He scored with his right foot against us
Scored at OT with his right foot too.
"No it didn't fail miserably as he has scored Spurs' last 4 goals and 3 of them have been from playing central. "
So what if he scored? That doesn't paint the full picture. I think I'll take Sandy's moaning over your little stat.
"And all he does is run in a straight line? I mean seriously. What am I meant to say to this garbage? If you actually believe that then you obviously don't watch him and there is no point discussing it anymore."
Alright. Carry on believing the guy can get into Madrid's first team ahead of Di Maria. Even Marcelo is better than him.
Place him in this Spurs team and he's blow teams out of the water.
What straight line did he run in for his goal at the Emirates?
Dubbed he is single-handedly winning Spurs games. Defoe's been underwhelming of late and Adebayor doesn't seem to care, so he is the one player that has stepped up to try and win them games.
He will be the difference between who gets 4th and who misses out. Bale is a match winner and that is invaluable. We had one of those last season, but decided to give him to United.
He may not have much subtlety, but teams still struggle to keep him quiet, especially as he's been playing in different roles this season.
"What straight line did he run in for his goal at the Emirates?"
You're taking things too literally.
Look. The guy's a top player. But the hype and a lot the comments are embarrassing. Absolutely cringe worthy stuff.
Samir
He's a match winner. There's no doubt about that. Not sure whether he'd be the difference though. And comparing him to RVP is ridiculous.
Threads like these are where I get to see who actually watches games in la liga because I get to see guys who have no idea of what is required of a la liga player. Bale just doesn't have what it takes to succeed in that league.
I didn't compare him to RvP. I said he is a match-winner for Spurs in the same way that RvP was a match-winner for us.
Come on Dubbed, I watched Spurs last two games and they barely created anything. It was individual quality from Bale that won them their last two games, of course he will be the difference. When Spurs aren't playing well, they can still win games. With us, if we don't play well, we tend to drop points.
Samir
Fair enough, yes. But you gotta admit the hype is laughable.
He is nowhere near Messi or Ronaldo's level, but the media do tend to go over the top with their praise of players, especially British players. However, you could also argue that the hype and plaudits he is getting is justified because he is delivering for Spurs and he has been the best winger in the Premier League this season.
Why has this thread switched from Nasri to Bale, Nani
and other players?
Nasri is a decent player, but in pursuit of higher wages
he made a career change rather like Hleb did when going to Barcelona.
I suspect that he will be offloaded by Man City next
season, because he is now a bench warmer and I expect them to invest heavily in new players to revitalise their EPL challenge.
However, I would not want him back at Arsenal. Firstly
because I think that both Cazorla and Wilshire are actually better players and second because I think that
he demonstrated at his previous clubs and French National Team that he is a rather disruptive character.
Arsenal's priority for next season in midfield needs to
be a defensive midfielder.

Surely Podolski is a better winger than Bale his stats are way better?
true, all that technical ability and nasri does not know how to use it.
Podolski isn't techinaically great, but does what he can, rather like bale, but bale just keeps improving.
