Anyone else think Leno would have saved the Maupay and Son goals? Emi makes himself long rather than girthy.

Btw J99, I hope you realise now why Mustafi should not and cannot be at the club next season. You told me you were impressed with him under Arteta and didn't mind keeping him. The truth is he will always have moments where he makes stupid errors that cost us no matter how well you think he's done. It's how he's always been. He cannot be relied on.

We can't keep players like this.

I miss our old French scouting system. Cygan, Squillaci, Giroud. Top top top top players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At least we managed to have international footy with them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because of them or in-spite them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They were part of the team that managed to bring us CL or at least EL footy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Were they? or were they the sign of our decline. And a lot of similar signings followed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a fact.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did we go unbeaten because Stack or Justin Hoyte or Bentley or Michal Papadopulos?

'I was sceptical of Mertesacker's appointment and his task of modernising the academy. But it is obvious that a lot of thought went into his role and it wasn't an attempt to save a year of his wages. So I am very happy to give him a chance'

..now that the first team squad is starting to benefit from his work.

Per has proved his worth. Hopefully Raul can also step up to the mark this summer, and we'll put last summer down to teething problems
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am a fan of Per the manager.

I wouldn't put the last summer down to teething problems. It was the change between Mislintat and Edu. Interesting if none of Mislintat's signings work out. Even Leno might go if Martinez continues to perform.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In fairness Tierney has looked good.

Still gobsmacked we spent so much on Pepe, when the midfield needed serious investment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Emery wanted a winger first and as Gt kept on telling us he loved Xhaka.

Tierney was Edu signing as was Pepe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I said he is first on his starting elven. Like it or not. And the guy managed to do so under Arteta.

Maybe, but it's hard to put too much blame on him. With the Son one, he's been put in a horrible position and I think he tried to close the angle down, but was running at an awkward angle and couldn't judge when Son was going to take the shot.

It's a neat finish by Son tbf.

I think you misunderstood me Samir. Mustafi has improved under Arteta. But I still don't rate him or Xhaka. And its the reason why I think Arteta/Edu kept Luiz. There is very little choice in a post Covid market. I don't they have money to cut free those on £5m a season contracts be it Kola, Xhaka or Mustafi. Getting rid of Ozil is going to eat into our transfer budget enough!

titanic, but oh look Man City got their ban overturned

J99 in SHOCK
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Already done that and you could have joined in if you had bothered to get your lazy behind out of bed.

Covid destroys ffp shock!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing to do with Covid stop embarrassing yourself
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So you think one of the biggest oil investors in football being excluded had nothing to do with no money anywhere in Europe with another possible season behind closed doors.

Don't tell me you are that naive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The court of arbitration for sport is an independent body

If Uefa overturned it you could explorre this without looking naive but CAS is an independent body who overturned the ban and reduced the fine because "most of the alleged breaches were either not established or time-barred"

As was said to you on many occasions last year, CAS never approves of banning clubs from a competition and will often overturn transfer bans.

Before after and during Covid this has always been the caseand this has been proven true again

Emery got us to 5th, a Europa League final, a 22 games unbeaten run, highest win % of any full time manager at Arsenal

AND YET ALL GOOBER FUDS WANTED HIM GONE FOR A CONE PLACER
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And couldnt speak the language properly. His downfall.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not my man, Pete. We surely overpaid for him.

Not consistent and he promised to be more than he has shown as so far. That's my honest opinion about him.

Pete. It was clear that he lost the trust of the dressing room. His poor communication skills meant players weren't taking him seriously or couldn't understand what he was saying. And, based on the recent reports about the players' reaction to Tierney's intensity in training when he first came, it seems like he was letting them do whatever they wanted, which explained our poor energy levels in the earlier performances this season.

He needed to go.

But it took Liverpool some failed investments in players to get there where they are.

Can’t wait until Arsenal are back in a position of needing to CAS to rule on an appeal against being banned from European competition.

Guarantee the ban would be upheld

How independent are CAS? They are not a branch of any judiciary nor do they live in a vacuum.

that snake Ozil turned the players against him.

Yet he’s failed to turn them against a less experienced manager.

Interesting...

Pete.....one more.

If Arteta willing to give Mustafi a new contract my trust in Arteta and willing to give him a fair chance would be rattled.

What it looks like it will come down to, Geets, is Mustafi or Ballard.

At least Sokratis looks like he’s done at Arsenal.

And btw CEG this the opinion of those in the Sport who matter.

La Liga president Javier Tebas:

“We have to reassess whether the CAS is the appropriate body to which to appeal institutional decisions in football. Switzerland is a country with a great history of arbitration, the CAS is not up to standard.”

Luiz extention was hard to take for me personally but I took that for all of his experience and the lockerroom atmosphere. Mustafi has cost us so many points. Allthough I agree with J99 that he improved under Arteta we can't trust him especially not in big games.
