Now, I'm too young to remember bit I was under the impression that she was voted in by the public 3 times. Do she must have done something right
----------------

More people voted against her than for her, she took advantage of a split opposition.

exactly,

all those beyatching and moaning either kept her in power, or had parents/relatives that kept her in power.

Ok, I can't keep my gob shut any longer. I'm sick to death of seeing posts on Facebook about benefit scroungers. Do you know the figures? Because if you did you might see it in another light.

Did you know that only 3% of the benefits budget goes to people seeking work? 53% is pensions and other related old age benefits, 18% is Housing Benefit (which currently goes directly to landlords) 18% is working tax credits, and the rest disabled benefits and other bits and bobs. (And by the way, the Government figures say the fraud rate for disabled benefits is 0.3%)

In fact, the majority of folks claiming housing and council tax benefit ARE IN WORK.

I could write a bloody essay on this because I deal with it everyday. Our benefits budget is not out of control. According to the OECD Britain's benefit bill per head is nowhere near as generous as half the countries in Europe. (And unemployment benefit is particularly stingy compared to most)

The vast majority of folks just want to get on but minimum wage jobs are not paying enough. (This might explain why at work we're seeing working people going to bloody foodbanks every week.)

This sh11tty government is turning people against each other. And it's totally unwarranted. Yes, welfare needs reforming but you don't do that by kicking people out of their homes, stigmatising them so that they get spat at in the street and driving them to suicide. - these have all happened so far.

In the last two years 80% of people applying for housing benefit were all working. We can reform welfare by bringing in a living wage so that people don't have to claim benefits to get by. At the moment the welfare budget is subsidising low pay and private landlords on a grand scale.

When you see a post that puts the boot into benefit claimants, think twice before you like it because let me tell you, we are ALL only three mortgage payments away from disaster.

(If anyone wants the sources of the figures I have quoted, I will only be too happy to provide them)

I've attached a pie chart from 2011 to give you an idea. Figures will have changed a bit.

The Tories need an underclass so that they can feel successful.

And your point is IE?

You think because she was voted in 3 times means she must have been doing something right? Yes she was but it was for her pals and supporters she was doing the right things for.

As I said more people didnt vote against her than for her the only reason she won 3 terms was because of a split opposition.

I think it should be played, as the way the media are trying to whitewash history must be countered.

History demands both sides of the story.

It is what it is, she got more votes than any other candidate

Somebody must have been voting for her

The Tories need and want and underclass so the people wont see what they are really doing. Destroying the fabric of society for short term gain. Also lining their own pockets, whilst the public turn on themselves and use the excuse of the recession to also cover it. Thatcher did it and Cameron (Maggie Mark II) is also doing it. It nothing more than making a right wing society.

Aye her supporter's and the people that benefited from her policies, the majority of the country at the time didnt vote for her so hence why you are seeing her getting such a slating.

If you lived in the South England you might see a different reaction.

Super Ally those companies were all fialing as there was no investment in infrastructure. It wasn't modernised. They took money year upon year with no investment in people or engineering and then low and behold they started losing.

When we discovered N.Sea oil they should have invested in new technology for these industries as Norway and Denmark did. There economies went onto a boom and ours went out of existence. As I said all short term gain with no consideration of others or the future.

Cheers for that Castle

People dont have a clue. they sit and spout about scroungers and lazy people, when the only info they have on it is the 5 minute segment they hoovered off of the news before they went to work. I would gladly see us double job seekers allowance and any other benefit for that matter. The vast majority are out of work through no fault of their own and are looking like fookin renegades for another job. They have paid their tax and national insurance since they left school and are now being forced to beg for £70 a week and queue up at food banks while some 18 year old jumped up wee <prick> that works at Burger king is telling him " I dont want my tax money paid out to scroungers" People need engage their brain and develope their own opinion instead of letting the TV do it for them!

In the last two years 80% of people applying for housing benefit were all working - perhaps this is as a direct result of Labour policy where there was NO CAP on the rent a landlord could receive from government departments! Therefore the bedroom tax and the cap on payments will return rent to manageable levels, will re invigorate the housing market as landlords push to sell houses they cannot generate a 10% minimum ROI and the need for this subsidy to working people will be cut!
