I'm tempted to go back to ML on 2013 but it takes ridiculously long to get from one match to another. I don't care about a new pair of boots FFS!

Another great result away at Atletico Madrid. Valeron involved again as Bodipo opens the scoring. Maniche looked the most dangerous for them, but Bodipo broke away to score his second with a cool finish. Torres got one back to set up a tense finale but we held on.

Followed up with a goalless draw with Real Madrid. Not much action in the first half, we put on the pressure in the closing stages but a blocked Ribery shot and a superb Casillas save from Riki were the best we could do. 0-0.

It looks like Sevilla are on course to become the first team to do the double over us through Fabiano's tap-in, but Valeron comes off the bench and steps up to the mark again. With minutes remaining he flashes a stepover, knocks the ball ahead and sends a perfect strike into the top left corner from 25 yards Goal of the season so far. Cristian could've won it had their defence not been so sharp, but 1-1's a good result.

Away at Espanyol and after a good early save, Aouate plays a stupid pass, we lose possession and Coloccini gives away a penalty, scored by Pandiani. Cristian has a chance and Riki puts it wide on the spin from 3 yards as we go down 1-0.

Benfica at home. Beto gives them an early lead but Riki levels. Moreira twice denies Arizmendi and Riki is dangerous but it ends 1-1. Rodriguez has our best chance against Valencia, failing to beat Canizares from 3 yards. 0-0.

Getafe are bottom of the league by a mile and we get the expected win. De Guzman gets his first of the season from a corner and Ribery squares for Cristian to make it 2-0 late on.

A trip to second from bottom Bilbao follows. Valeron gives us the lead, winning the ball and showing nice footwork before curling in. Ribery set up simple goals for Bodipo and Rodriguez as we get our biggest win of the season.

Goalless draw at home to Porto. Pablo blocked Quaresma's overhead kick. Bodipo and Valeron had our best chances, while Aouate saved from Jorginho.

After failing to beat them in three previous games, we finally get a win against Villarreal. Ribery gets another assist, setting up Riki for the game's only goal. Pires has their best effort but Aouate saves.

Zaragoza at home, and more great wing play from Ribery allowed Riki to open the scoring. Milito quickly equalised with a clinical strike and Celades hit the post for them. Valeron's speculative effort should've been routine for Sanchez, but he fumbled it and Riki tapped in his second, contrasted with Aouate diving to keep out Ewerthon's powerful long shot. Milito and Riki wasted great chances and Aouate got away with a dropped cross as we picked up the 2-1 win.

One match remaining and Barca have already sealed the title, with Madrid and Valencia occupying the next places. We're fourth with 50 points from 29 games so far.

Final game of the season away at Betis. They appeared to have John Ruddy in goal, and he made good saves from Bodipo's low effort and Capdevila's 40 yard thunderbolt. It was an own goal from Lembo which proved decisive, heading into his own net to give us the 1-0 win.

So Barca (70 points) win the league with Madrid (59) second and Valencia (55) third. We're a surprising and impressive fourth (53) with the best defensive record in the league (16 conceded), although it's not surprising that we didn't score as many (30 scored). Benfica and Zaragoza join us in the Champions Cup qualifiers, while Getafe and Bilbao are relegated.

Ronaldo is the top scorer with 16, while Ronaldinho is named best player to go with his 14 goals and 11 assists (none against me ).

Riki was our top scorer with 10, Bodipo close behind with 8. Ribery's impact was incredible, he only joined halfway through the season but still got 6 assists. Too difficult to single out one standout player. The defence were excellent, Coloccini probably my favourite. Sergio Gonzalez was a strong captain in midfield, while Valeron always added class when he played. Attackers weren't amazing but played above themselves.

Challenging but fun first season

Done some good business so far. Got Hurtado as experienced CB cover and picked up Raul Garcia and Zabaleta from free agents

First friendly against Mallorca who start well as Munua saves a pen from Doni and Everton hits the post. Ribery and Valeron come close, the keeper nearly fumbles Ribery's free kick in and Arizmendi hits the bar as it finishes 0-0. Tried out a 4-3-3 with some new players.

Bosltered the attack with experience and potential by adding free agents Solskjaer and dos Santos. Also added Oscar Serrano as a wide player.

Palermo in the second friendly. Plenty of chances and Valeron heads in Pablo's cross to give us the only goal.

The team's shaping up nicely. Might get a younger keeper (had a bid for Akinfeev rejected) and maybe a defender.

Big news. Arsenal offer a swap: they want Ribery for Hleb. That is a big decision. Hleb's worth more, is slightly older and his abilities probably make him a bit more versatile. Considering these swap offers are barely ever worth the time of day, and knowing how good both players are, I accept.

We have to wait for it, but Arizmendi rifles in the winner in the third friendly against Monaco.

Ribery leaves, Hleb joins and instantly the transfer turns out to be too good to be true - he's carrying an injury that will put him out for the first half of the upcoming season

Final friendly against Liverpool. An unlucky bounce leaves Munua wrongfooted, he brings down Garcia and is sent off, Zenden scoring the penalty. We get a bit of luck ourselves, a slight touch off Hyypia sees the ball find Riki who makes it 1-1.

We bring in young goalkeeper Jose Ramon to complete our business.

Season two begins at home to champions Barcelona and the first chance goes to Valeron, whose free header hits the bar. In the second half Valeron finds Riki who tees up Estoyanoff to blast in from an angle, making it 1-0. Coloccini then starts a counter, Estoyanoff finds Riki who holds off Puyol and fires in from the edge of the area goal counter. Riki nearly makes it unreal, turning and hitting the bar. Great performance, perfect start.

Solskjaer hasn't impressed so far, but he scores two extremely Solskjaer goals in our first European qualifier. Firstly he stretches to volley in Serrano's cross, then scores a back header. Di Napoli hits the post for Zaragoza and Solskjaer nearly gets his hat-trick. Arizmendi completes a 3-0 win.

We can't break down Osasuna in the league, however, Serrano coming closest in a goalless draw.

And it's another 0-0 in the next qualifier against Ajax. Valeron hits the post and Stekelenburg saves Bodipo's long range effort and Valeron's free kick, while Rosenborg wastes their best opportunity.

Valeron with a vintage performance, setting up Bodipo for the opener and putting in a corner which is met by Zabaleta's diving header. We're cruising but some horrible defending sees Tarik and Babic bring it back to 2-2 for Porto.

The third qualifier at Valencia puts us in a great position. It looks like being goalless as Serrano and Villa fail to score, but Zabaleta crosses to find Riki who scores the winner.

Olympiakos are the only non-Spanish/Portuguese team in the league, just there as filler, but Dani gives them the lead. Sergio's pen earns us a 1-1 draw.

Fourth European qualifier at Zaragoza. Estoyanoff has an eventful first half, missing an open goal, scoring from Capdevila's cross and hitting the bar. De Guzman's half volley from distance hits the bar and Blazek makes an amazing double save from Bodipo and Solskjaer. 1-0.

Betis in the league and Xisco's acrobatic chest and volley puts them ahead. Raul Garcia times his run perfectly to smash in Bodipo's pass and puts us ahead with his second, a great effort into the far corner. 2-1.

We're basically already through to the group stage, so I put out a slightly weakened team against Ajax in the fifth qualifier. Still get the job done, Estoyanoff's cross is headed in by Bodipo for 1-0. Bodipo hits the bar and has a shot saved by Stekelenburg, but on the second occasion it somehow falls to Solskjaer to make it 2-0 from a yard. After the break, Zabaleta makes it 3-0 and Sergio gets a rebound for 4-0. Ajax have no luck, Babel hitting the post and Maduro's shot blocked by Lopo as we get our biggest win yet.

Levante at home and Serrano gives us the lead. Estoyanoff sets up Bodipo to double our advantage and we hold on despite Ettien's consolation.

Final European qualifier against Valencia and Morientes' header looked like being the winning goal. However, dos Santos came on, ran free, cut back inside with a dummy and equalised brilliantly. A draw would've been good, but in injury time Alcantara found Rodriguez who layed on a shot for Cristian, whose low, curling effort won it for us.

Away at Real Madrid who fly out of the blocks with a van Nistelrooy goal. Cassano then sends him through to round the keeper and score another. They frustrate us, we barely create one chance until Riki's shot is saved and Bodipo puts the rebound in. Too late, it ends 2-1.

Atletico Madrid next, and Aguero hits the bar with the best early chance. Zabaleta sets up Riki for a simple finish, but Aguero's pass sets up Torres to score a diving header (think a budget RVP vs. Spain goal). 1-1.

We play Valencia and Tavano heads them in front. Serrano sets up Bodipo to level and the striker later hits the far post from a yard out. 1-1 is a fair result.

Zaragoza away in the first leg of the cup and Milito pounces on poor defending to open the scoring. A cross to the far post then finds Ewerthon who unleashes a vicious volley to make it 2-0. We had chances but couldn't get back into it, the second leg will be difficult.

After that loss we face Zaragoza in the league. Serrano sets up Solskjaer twice in a few minutes to give us a 2-0 win. Promising for the cup.

We've got a tricky European Championship group of Man United, Bayern and Torino and we start with the easiest on paper: Torino at home. Estoyanoff sets up Serrano and Pablo sets up Bodipo for 2-0. They get back in it, Oguro hits the bar and de Sousa gets a consolation to make it 2-1.

We travel to Espanyol and instantly go behind, Ito scoring at the second opportunity. Luis Garcia has space to double the lead before HT, then scores a header after the break to make it 3-0. Minutes later he completes his hat trick with a ridiculous free kick aimed at the keeper's side. Solskjaer pulls one back with a near post effort but 4-1 really does tell the story.

Bayern in the European Championship group. Another shocking start as Santa Cruz puts them ahead. Bayern restrict our chances and it looks like we're losing consecutive games, until Bodipo runs into the box, Ismael slides in and the ball falls to Riki, free to score from 10 yards. A draw would be a good result on that performance, but Capdevila puts in a cross, it takes a nick off Görlitz and Serrano meets it on the half volley to win it for us in stoppage time Unreal, Bayern only have themselves to blame.

Sporting at home. Deivid heads their winner from a corner. Horrible league form. Coloccini had our best chance ffs .

Valeron's goal sees us beat Zaragoza 1-0 in the second leg of the cup. Not enough, we go out 2-1 on aggregate.

posted on 18/7/14

Back to basics away at Benfica. Riki fires in the early goal. Munua saves from Mantorras, Schneider shoots wide. Riki hits the post but 1-0 is enough.

United in the third European group game. Aouate keeps out early chances form Park and Smith. We respond, Valeron hits the bar and Serrano sets up Riki to score. Scholes comes close to equalising but it's 3 wins out of 3, much better than our domestic form.
