I couldn't help myself Ivan. Years ago on bbc606 I used to post quizzes which actually had no answer, kept it going for a while. Eventually someone answered Billy Dodds to one of them to which I replied "nae idea, I made the question up".

Childish as hell but it kept me amused fo a wee while

When Dundee Utd won the league in 1983 am I not right in thinking that they onlu used something like 14 players all season

And United, Celtic and Aberdeen all had a chance of winning the league on the last day? When scottish football was great.

posted on 14/5/13

ER - a little bit of a myth as we did use more players than that (I think it was around 19 or so) but we did have a core of 14 who played the vast majority of the games - the others just had little cameos every now and then.

I saw an interesting stat though the other day that shows the difference between then and now. SAF this season has used something like 34 different starting XI's in the league. In another season they won the league, and I can't remember which season, they used 38 different starting XI's in their 38 league games which is just mind boggling.

In that season if we hadn't won then Celtic would have nicked it and if we had both lost then Aberdeen would have sneaked in and stole it. Think Celtic and Aberdeen finished on the same amount of points but Celtic were 2nd on goal difference.
