And don't even get me started on Qatar hosting the world cup.

Who really cares? Scotland wont be there.
Hmmm daily mail
And dont get u started on qatar hosting the world cup?
Racist...
Heaven nose why they chose Qatar.
Platini is a plank. Monaco should be ejected from Europe in that case, along with the Israeli teams. Why on earth are they allowed to compete in European competitions?? Jew know??
It will never get past the European Courts, probably the first decent decision they will ever make, mind you!
It's absurd that France want to tax anyone who is successful 75%.
FFP will not work. UEFA cannot tell a business what it can and cannot receive in sponsorship revenue.
The whole idea will fall apart and we're back to square-one.
Platini had no answer. The bloke is an idiot. And don't even get me started on Qatar hosting the world cup.

It's FIFA and not UEFA who chooses the World Cup venues.
platini is an utter banger
he started this moral crusade when france and germany were being outspent and out powered by england, spain and italy
now that the tide is turning and german teams look dominant and the oil money of psg and monaco, how will he play this one when one of them wins a CL funded by a sugar daddy and not the earning capacity of the club itself
I would pull the plug on Qatar's World Cup whilst there's still nine years left.
It's going to be an utter farce and the top European leagues will sue FIFA for millions if their season has to be interrupted because of a Winter World Cup.
platini is positioning himself to become fifa president in coming years
the russians and Qatar should never have been awarded either of the WC's

That's socialism for you
Seriously though, I agree I just cannot see how this is ever going to work. Clubs will endlessly find ways around it an d then rake it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, then take it to the European courts. That whole process could drag out for 10 years.
FFP just creates an even bigger gap.
How can a team ever aspire to be among Europe's elite if its finances are restricted?
Is it fair that Chelsea and Man City were allowed to spend millions to compete yet if West Ham (just as an example) wanted to be among the elite they were told they can't be?
What owners are the real culprits: Roman Abramovich who continually gives his money to his football club and is slaughtered for it; or Arsenal's owners who take everything from their football club and are commended?
And if clubs go to the wall, then I'm afraid it's just business.

Ginger, if Mr Ambramovic or some rich Sheikh wants to invest HIS money in HIS business that's got sod all to do with Platini or UEFA.
It's globalisation at work again for good or bad. You'll see fewer and fewer small clubs and the big clubs will just get bigger.
That's inevitable unless the whole world's society suddenly changes. Trying to impose some sort of cap throughout Europe just won't work.

Ginger, if it came to it, the top clubs in the top leagues in Europe could leave UEFA and form their own SuperLeague.

Good post Henrik
Totally agree.
Zico raises a good point. You can limit a players wage but then give them a commercial or sponsorship deal that compensates. Clubs will find a way around it so the whole thing is pointless really.
I certainly don't expect Celtic to be able to better compete in Europe because of FFP.
some clubs mortgage their income
Real madrid are the perfect example, borrow 250 million euros to buy new galacticos like ronaldo etc, the lenders know they will get that money back due t income Real madrid get
if clubs like madrid and man utd can service their debt then its unfair to try and stiop them running their own business as they see fit
i still think his agenda was to suit his own country who's teams were pash and had nowhere near money the english etc had
now its flipped cause monaco and psg are throwing hundreds of millions at players
ffp is a challenge to continually attemp top plug loopholes rich owners will exploit to maintain the advatage their clubs have . On the other hand if it was not for Platini introducing the champions route then we could kiss any post qualifying rounds of the CL goodbye.
That alone for me earns a thumbs up for Platini
If another Scottish club wanted to compete with Celtic how would they do this without an initial investment which is more than the revenue they generate currently?
The answer is they can't. That will happen all over Europe, until the only solution is to remove these massive clubs and they join into a Super-League before prostuting themselves across Asia in an attempt to become even richer.
I don't want that to happen. I want the big clubs to stay in their national leagues, but also have the potential of clubs aspiring to challenge them.
Ginger, if it came to it, the top clubs in the top leagues in Europe could leave UEFA and form their own SuperLeague.
There is much talk of such being not so much of an if but a when comes to pass. There is a expiry of agreement to abide by UEFA rules coming up I believe

if clubs in scotland outside the old firm fans actually turned up and spent money to see their team on a regular basis then they will generate more income and might, just might be able to put up a better challenge
