They like Old Trafford do Australian captains.
Even if the pitch isn't doing a lot for the quicks I'd like to see a more attacking field to Clarke for a few overs with a bit of short stuff. Something, he's been cruising along at a good rate here.
Reverse swing there, a quite a bit of it. Anderson has made the ball move quite a bit this morning.
Played at this ground they're showing on Sky Sports in July. Was the best ground I've ever played at
I can see why Warner reviewed as bat hit the pad quite hard but how on earth can he not know he hit it
aus shud go for the 600+ so I guess after clarke passes his 200 he shud unleash.
Here more than the pitch now, it would be pressure that will make England lose their wickets.
Aussies should be looking to bat until just before lunch tomorrow - roughing up the pitch as much as possible and keeping England toiling in the field.
650 should be enough to ensure they won't have to bat again. You just know that England will struggle to get 350.

Finally the short stuff works, but what a poor wicket
Aussies will be looking at racing to 500 now, then to grab a couple of wickets before close of play
Timing. Get these four for now't and we are right back in it.
Aussies lead of 100, bowled out for 150 in their second innings. England win by 5 wickets
Got to say though despite getting his wicket there, it's been pretty poor from the England seamers this morning.
Yes, the pitch is tough to bowl on but they've tried nothing or persisted with any plans. Clarke looked a little unsettled with the shorter stuff yet we didn't try enough of it.
I agree Galloping Major, it just seems as if we've stuck to same old stuff searching for the edge even though it never looked likely, don't think there's been an edge from the seamers apart from the tricky chance Prior dropped
Also, the field settings on Swann's bowling have been very defensive, not many men around the bat at all - especially to new men in
Standard swing and a miss from Siddle, 5-fer for Swann
As TGM says - and Sky commentators - the bowlers should not be bowling line and length only, but mixing it up and using some imagination.
Yes Punting, it's been quite obvious that sitting back and waiting for a mistake all morning wasnt going to happen, the wicket was and still is nice to bat on.
It's something I've questioned on Cook's captaincy before, almost as if he's from the Strauss school of thought. Patience. He needed to be a bit more pro-active for me and set attacking fields as you mention.
Blimey, just seen the Warner dismissal
After Clarke I routed if OZ would reach 500. It appears they will surpass 500 with ease.
I have said for years. Bresnan is not a first change bowler on flat wickets..hes a 4th seamer.. He offers nothing coming on first change.. Ok when wickets doing something..
What a flat wicket this is. If England, probably the 2nd best bowling attack, fails to pick 10 wickets then which other bowling attack can?
cook has also missed the trick. He has bowled anderson, broad and bresnan way too much. Hope he knows that England have another test in days after this test. Should have bowled more part timers
Bresnan is a good bowler and had some good deliveries, don't know why he gets so much stick, he's better than Finn. Having said that I'd have played Tremlett instead of him.
Gets stick? we have a better bowler in Onions. he doesn't get picked because he can not bat.. I don't rate Bresnan.. he doesn't take enough wickets..Broads walking on thin ice aswell. England have 2 class bowlers and 2 average ones.
Bresnan is a decent stock bowler, who gives good line and length but he's rarely going to be the guy who rips through the order and gets a 5-fer. On an active pitch, he's very reliable - it's just that his consistent line and length outside off stump is easily dealt with on a flat track, such as this
Even as a Surrey fan, I wouldn't have Tremlett for England
