COOK let the whole Cook-clan down by missing such a simple catch.

Kerrigan struggling. Looks very nervous.

That's tea.

When is the last time a division 2 bowler was capped for England? surely the opposition has to be taken into account - Perhaps look at some of the "less famous" clubs in Div 1 rather than this pie chucker from Lancs

pie chucker? its not easy being a spinner in your first test..

Looks like the Woakes and Kerrigan households will have a full complement for Christmas. Confusing selections, Woakes ain't Test class - a beneficiary of England obsession with bowler who can bat. As for Kerrigan - just too early. Doubt these two will be on the plane...

Why Tremlett was left out is beyond me.. Odd selections this AM and it looks to have backfired. Another 150 and the Aussies will be sitting very pretty. Basically we have 2 strike bowlers and a spinner.

Not really a problem as the Series is over but no room for this type of nonsense Down Under

Kerrigan looks like a Virgin lost in a jungle full of nigerian men.

I acknowledge it is hard being a spinner in your first test - but the distance between the wickets doesn't change and you should at least have the accuracy to bowl more economically.

If he'd played for a team such as Northants or Derbs he wouldn't even be considered

Don't worry guys.

We have Monty as our back up spinner, we won't see this Kerrigan bloke again. Monty is just in a different class altogether.

I could name a dozen bowlers in county cricket today who should be ahead of Woakes as well, we won't see him again.

Nice to see people judging players on their first spell in test cricket on a slow flat pitch at the oval

posted on 21/8/13

Monty has no chance of playing for England ever again - unless he signs for Yorkshire.

150 for Watson.

Better over from Kerrigan.

Australia are on top right now, which is why it's forecast to rain on thursday and saturday.

prob 40-2 after 27 overs

Watson out for 176. Great catch by KP off Broad.

Well played Watson. Now the normal service will resume. .i.e fall of wickets.

Livid with that team selection. Bairstow and Tremlett was so obvious. Woakes looks out of his depth in ODI's. As for Kerrigan, putting him in when he is clearly not ready will set him back hugely. Monty would have offered good control if they were so desperate to play a second spinner. I couldn't care less where he pi$$es he's 10 times the bowler this kid is right now.

Got a ticket for tomorrow, not looking forward to it at all. Aussies will get 500 and we will be 50-2 off 30 overs

Boycott agrees with you, Bale. Scathing attack on the two coming in, withering assault on the selectors. Also went after the absent Monty for his foolishness.

The future is not bright for England.
