You are using the likes of Rooney and Barton as yardsticks for how english should be spoken?

posted on 4/7/13

I find it extremely surprising that grown up and well known and well educated people use of instead of have.
Its funny if you pronounce in your head though.

TRC
Not them but I have noticed too many folks using the term.

Because when you say should've or would've it sounds like should of or would of and that confuses people.

I wouldn't of thought of that.

I've got a mate who always uses 'writ' instead of 'wrote'. Does my nut in.

it's probably because whe you pronounce could've it sounds like could of. So some people just assume its could of. It's not really an excuse but I guess it could explain

Just some people go on about Britain it gets boring sometimes when most people outside of this country want to come here and leach and also follow all the sports etc.

I think Robin Van Persil has it spot on.

I certainly wouldn't want to stay in Britain for long. Its so damp and cloudy.

That may be, but it certainly has better internet connection than India

I don't know why people care that much though.... Language is an ever evolving system. Anyone who has read Shakespeare will know that.

The mistakes, abbreviations and slang of today will be the norm in a few decades. Much like some of the words and sayings we take for granted as being "correct" were once mistakes, abbreviations or slang.

Nope. Although I never claimed to stay in India and having stayed in India and Britain I can comfortably say internet and TV is far cheaper in India with more or less similar speeds.
Can't stand the clouds and damp environment though.

What is this rubbish? Can we get back to talking about football? Like how Welbeck would of out scored Hernandez had he been played in his correct position.
