I heard on the radio that any signing had to be registered yesterday to be eligible for the qualifiers. Don't know if it's true.
Perhaps that's just for the 3rd round qualifiers. The actual eligible squad for teams in the group stage can be decided much later I think.
why do they need to spend to win a one horse race?
even if you think your squad is weaker it's still the best in the country by some distance
Sorry I meant the third round qualifiers. Good luck by the way but tough draw.
we'll spend about £10m i'd say
TRFC - to try and make an impact in Europe, but I suspect you knew that.
Pistol will wait to see if you qualify for the group stages before loosening the purse strings. Why spend millions to win the "Scottish Premiership" when there's no Europe?
If you qualify then you will spend. Not before.
We signed Samuel Mraz last night
TRFC
Forget the SPL as agree thats a one horse race but the fans want europe and to do this we need to spend as we have lost our best to players.
If we get to the play off round, that will guarantee European football which would help a lot.

========
just lost our 2 best players so we speculate to accumulate.
Sammy juniour is only 16 will come good but not ready for the first team yet
TRFC
Agree we have a squad more than good enough for the SPL title however losing Wanyama and Hooper dents our European chances especially with a shaky defence.
Keny can you really see Pistol speculating to accumulate?
Ivan, I think Pistol hedges his bets on teh finacial front and kudos to him for that
It is a balancing act, I feel he will spend, perhaps not to the level fans would like but he is a money man, a well respected and highly thought of one at that amongst other clubs but the bottom line comes first, sad reflection of the times at the minute in Scottish football
Given the next game in Europe looks like a tough one I am surprised no more was done in the way of transfers.
with 40 million in windfall cash more could have been spent.
Where is the 36 mill spare going?
I think £10-12 M went to clearing our debt and don't forget attendances were down so to recoup loss in revenue against wages it would have come out of that however we still should have £20M+ to spend.
Let's sign Jordan Henderson then we'll have £4M left over for a footballer
Duke, fair point, I wonder if it is 36mil though? I feel there might been other "overheads" that have eaten into that or Pete has seen the finacial future and is battening down the finacial hatches
Pure guess work mind!
Piffle totally agree
"Where is the 36 mill spare going?"
if we didnt have champions league football we would be operating at a loss , i think the chunk of it will go to protecting the fact that this may happen
If we get to the group stages , i would suspect we would put some of it back into the team
we always do that , we always just think what we get in we must spend on players but that structure has been blown out the water in recent years and it just doesnt make sense to do it anymore
Murney
Attendances were down, whats worrying we go out of europe I think it will be a even bigger hit this season as fans will anger with there feet and stay away.
Fans are nit stupid we know how much we have made we have sold our best two players, plus pistol must know say we make the group stages again then we make money from TV revenue and plus full grounds so for me a no brainer, I just worry the biscut tin is back at parkhead again
Jungle
You are right. He won't spend big when we can't recoup it from Champs League and we would return to being in debt.
Will it be boring if we don't have Europe? - Yes
However I'd like to still have a club that will be back in Europe the next year and still on a stable footing while we still convincingly win the league.
The club would state the dont need Europe or transfers to run
18 mill in season books (mostly from Ginger )
Prize money
New strip sales
Updated strip sponsorship
TV money
Stadium advertising
He may wish to buy the stadium back from the co op Bank
Who knows but some money is missing.
